Pulled the bike apart this weekend. Checked as much of the wiring as we could.

After doing what we could (details below) one of the guys working with me has a background as a Mercedes and BMW mechanic and has a lot of experience with Bosch. He thinks it may be the Motronic unit. Anybody with any experience with those failing?

- no bad wiring found. In fact, all the wiring we examined looked surprisingly good.

- checked all the relays and connections

- Checked the battery, cleaned up all the terminals, etc. Ground strap and leads looked good.

- Removed and checked starter and coil. Tested good and looked good.

- Wiring to Hall Sensor was new. I wasn't sure they had installed a new sensor harness when I got the new Hall sensor, but they did.

- Looked at all the connections, cleaned everything, etc.

I am now looking at a 9 hour round trip to the nearest dealer.

Just a follow up...it turned out that the new Hall Sensor installed by the dealer was faulty. Installed a new one and problem is gone. Thanks for all the help.

FIXED!

Thanks to everyone for their help. In the end, it turned out the new Hall Sensor installed by the dealer was faulty. After a month of checking everything else, we replaced the HES (no charge!) and it runs like a champ again.

I honestly wouldn't change a thing. I learned so much about the bike and gained an immense amount of confidence from the experience.

thanks again to everybody,

Greg
