My 05 plate 1150GS Adventure (twin spark) starts sluggishly and then feels like it's running on 1 and the 1.5 cylinders i.e. 1 plug on 1 pot is not sparking. Once hot, it won't rev past 4.5k and feels like carbed bike with the choke on?

I have a good spark on all plugs when earthed to the cylinders, I have a spare coil for the two auxiliary plugs and a spare stick type coil, have swapped them with no improvement. Beginning to think it's more fuel related as it's definitely on;y firing on 1 cylinder briefly on starting before running on 2 albeit roughly.

Any thoughts, is a GS911 tool a worthwhile investment?

Steve

Tried draining the tank totally and adding new fuel?

Steppers will be on just now to say hall sensors can produce this type of symptom when failing, then again they may not.:D

Because you've ruled out coil and plugs by exchanging and theres no diffs.

Does sound like your spark may be breaking down. So I'd be looking at the halls first.

Or your battery is shagged.

Fuelling problem springs to mind. Blocked injectors?

Have you done a throttle balance check...I dont think thats part of the problem but just a hint of doubt.

A spark outside of the combustion chamber really proves nothing. Inside the engine is a completely different environment. To test the main coil caps pull the two lower secondary plug caps off the lower plugs and see if the engine runs on just the main plugs. It may not start or run or runs on one cylinder only - if so the coil caps/stick(s) are your problem

I very much doubt it's the hall sensor with the symptoms described. If the engine idles but dies the moment the throttle is touched is a hall sensor problem

Ok, I know fcuk all anyway:beerjug:

the OP has believed he has ruled out plugs/coil/caps as they have been swapped/exchanged over with no change in symptoms.?

Hence my referral to your good self.
