1150 RT gear position indicator question

Hi all,

Asking on behalf of a friend who has just purchased an 1150RT and his gear indicator on the dash is doing its own thing

Just wondering if this is likely to be the switch on the shifter if so where is it? My mates not very tech savvy but his brother is

Anything else he should consider

Back of gearbox, below and in front of swingarm

There are a couple of sticky out legs for the big "circlip" type thing that holds it in, you can grip them with a pair of long bent nose pliers (and cable tie it closed ) and it can be got out with a bit of wiggling

The plug is up on the left side of the frame forward of the ABS unit
