Hi all,

I took the bike out today and some *(&"£ pulled out in front of me, so I pushed on the horn - and nothing was there!

I came home and checked it out, but I guess I would like to know what I am looking for.

I've got a charged battery but no clips to link it to the horn - I was thinking of running some current through it to see if it works.

If this doesn't work, elseto check?

I haven't checked the fuses yet, perhaps I should. If so, what should I look for?

Any ideas or hel pmuch welcomed. Thanks! L

Try some WD40 around the switch are for starters. The switches can corrode on the contacts if you haven't used it ofr a long time. Find some more folk to use it on!

Horn !!!!!! Use your left hand indicator like everyone else.

Tell me about it :D

I often give people the benefit of some furious left hand indicating while shouting obscenities at my visor.

I thought it was only me, I have never managed to hit the horn, and friends still take the pish when I severly indicate someone :D

Hehe

the guy nearly totalled me, was not funny - but not unexpected of course!

I'll check it later, but as for a replacement horn should I go through Motorworks or get an aftermarket through Halfords or summat?

I'm still new to buying and fitting, so don't want to be doing too much crimping but I appreciate it should be an easy job.

Check the connector on the horn itself, unscrew it from the bracket and take a good look in there - my horn has failed a couple of times (just before an MoT) and has been a simple case of just cleaning the connector pins with a small screwdriver)

Easiest route.. if the original IS kernackerd.. would be a Stebel Magnum.. £12 or so from Halfords.. straight swap - takes less than two minutes. Much louder than the original. and not much bigger..

Course you can go for the louder and rather bigger Stebel Nautilus. But thats a little less straightforward to fit.

Mine is so quiet that I'm not sure it achieves anything anyway..

Halfords are stocking both the Magnum and Nautilus horns at a good price at the minute
