1150GS rear pad wear?

Just replaced the rear pads after less than 3,000 miles They were EBC HH, a model I'd previously got 5,000 miles out of on the front of my old GSX-R

As with the previous read pads I'd changed, it's the inner pad (static, closest to the wheel) that wear the most. The outer had 3mm of material remaining whilst the inner was nearly gone, caught me a bit by surprise as I'd changed them just before Xmas.

Replaced them with BMW OEM pads as that's all I could get at short notice for the MOTI was booked in for.

Anyone else with similar experiences?

Do you only brake approaching left hand bends?



Check the condition of the inside of the disc. If there's any damage (from previously running with a worn inside pad?) then wear will be increased.

Disc surface is fine, scratch free, as were the surfaces of both pads. Both pads wear evenly albeit at different rates, so it's nothing to do with the sliding caliper moving unevenly. I'll just keep an eye on it.

Do OEM pads wear at quicker/faster rate to aftermarket pads or is there little difference?

Pads.

I use my GS off road a lot and was very surprised to get about 500 miles out of a genuine pair! All my riding buddies suffer the same. If you are concerned you might consider running a solid disc. I was told that these undrilled rotors aid brakeing and save on pad wear. Failing that find yourself a source of cheap pads. We use Armstrong HH. I can get them for a measly 7 quid plus the dreaded. Mark.

Could be a known problem with the pad retaining pin. It needs emery paper cleaning and coppaslipping regularly or the pads stick on.

I got caught out with my first GS which needed new pads after 5,000 miles.

I'm on 15,000 with the current rear pads, in spite of having the linked braking system on my new GS.
