My 1150GSA wouldnt start. At first I suspected the Hall sensor - this had failed before. Checked it with a small tester I made up last time. All ok. Next I checked the injectors. They seemed to be firing, but no fuel was being sprayed. So I pulled the hoses from the fuel tank/pump. Pump made noises but there was no pressure, and I could blow air back through the delivery hose from the pump. Not good. So it was off with the tank and pull the pump out. First photo below shows what I found. The plastic spigot where the fuel hose goes on had broken off. I did notice that the pump was flopping around and the rubber at the bottom was perished.

A search of this formum suggested the 5 series BMW car pump would fit. So I got one of these. Its a little bigger than the original so some mods were needed. The series of photos below show what I did.

All good now - bike runs well so I'm happy.

Two reasons for non original

1: cost - didnt price a genuine, but I expect $$$$$$. The one I got was $240 oz, double this for original(?)

2: my nearest dealer is about 500 km away. I'd have to order it in and then wait on the mail. And wait and wait etc

The one I got wasnt a Bosch, just an equivalent - and I can just go down to my nearest Repco agent and buy a car one. And if this one fails then it's easy to just get another one.
