funs over

take my advice be prepared to spend lots of money for the next 12000 miles. have 26,000 on my 06.....3 ring antennas,2 gearbox seals,3drive shaft seals,4 fuel pump regulators, at £ 78.00 a pop. 3 batterys, 1 altenator,1 x starter motor,1 x abs pump £ 750.00 that was nice one, 1 x clutch which is now starting to slip again after 4000 miles........sold it 3 weeks ago, still thinking of going to morroco ! not good enough bmw.:potkettle

Dont piss on his chips just because you have had some bad luck.

I could counter that and say that after 40000 miles and 2 years it has given me no trouble and is getting sweeter every day.

Lets save the bitterness for something worth while eh.

New Back tyre: changed at 8,000 miles or thereabouts in Calais (about 200 Euro I think - kinda needed it doing)

New Front Tyre: changed at 12,000 miles

Brake pads: not changed yet (still like new.... )

Do you push it everywhere?

If GOD Himself would have built a machine, it would have been, beyond ANY doubt would be a BMW R GS. Nothing left to say!

Am I crazy?

I have an O6 GS with 10,000 happy miles (its one of four bikes and I do a lot of miles year round as I commute between SW France and UK monthly). Ive spent a load on it..Ohlins front and rear (highly recommended), Schnitzer panels all painted up in red/white, engine and "Advenure" tank bars, Touratech fog and spot lights, Sargent seat (highly recommended), LED lights and indicators, Remus power cone exhaust, GSA screen, spoked wheels...and now I'm thinking I might trade for a GSA. Just something about those A's. I know its gotta be my decision but I'll be interested in any comments as to do/dont from you guys/gals who know these things.

Would not change my 1200 GS for anything other than a 1200 GSA :drool.

Was on the list, but Credit Crunch  has seen to it that it may not happen as soon as I wished.

Hay Ho. Never mind.:D

My 12GSA arrived July 06, a fabulous bike! The only problem I have had were some marks on a pannier lid that refused to polish out, the dealer replaced the lid. It has been great fun buying lots of goodies for it :thumb2
As someone already mentioned there is no point in changing it so I will wait for the 1250!

Great to read

It's great to read your comments after seeing so many about crap front engine covers etc. I've just hopped from a much loved :bounce1Honda Firestorm to a 15 month old R1200GS with full computer ABS and Vario luggage. I love it already (it was fantastic comming out of London round the M25/M3 in Friday's rush hour - loads of confidence in traffic) I came to it via an Ebay purchased Dominator (bought for my son to ride) and loved the change in riding style, watched Long Way Down and was done for! I look forward to my first foray into Europe at the end of May.

43,000 miles on my 06 1200GSA, and it is fantastic. In fact it run's better now then it ever did.

I luv's me Bertie I do (My daughter named him Bertie)

:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

08 GSA - Just ticked over 20k tonight, I was thinking riding back from work today, there is no other bike in my 35 years of riding I would rather be on - besides a (warrantied) switch failure, like my other 3 R1200GS/A's they have all been nothing short of fantastic - I will be doing my annual change soon - and I cant think of another bike I would rather have ..........:thumb2

good report garfield and as others have said its good to hear positives for a change:thumb2

Still looks rather clean to me .....though I think we'll be doing something about that in April for you ;)

I think you'll be even more chuffed with it when you find out how much better offroad they are than most people think :thumb2

Nuffsaid, if and when you are ready for a change please PM me with the details. Cheers
