1200 GS mirrors on 650 GS ?

I asked this question a while ago on a "mirrors" thread but without a response:
I understand it is technically possible to fit the round mirrors (I imagine together with the stalks) from the 1200 GS to the 650, thus hopefully improving rear visibility.
Question is - has anyone actually done it, and if so are there any issues with mirror vibration or with screen clearance on full lock (I have the BMW touring screen)? To me, the only redeeming feature of the standard 650 mirrors is that they don't vibrate - at least at running in speeds.

A photo of a converted bike would be very welcome.

I realise mirror extenders are available, but they cost a packet and do nothing to address the irritating shape of the standard items.

i've done it swapping the mirrors of a 1200GS to my 800..
but still experience vibrations above 100km/h.. maybe i didn screw it in tight enough...

I've done it the other way round. I much prefer the shape of the 800 mirrors and find they give me a better view rearwards than the micky mouse ones.

Nice one! I don't suppose you have a spare pair of 1200 mirrors surplus to requirements?::)

As a matter of interest, did you swap the whole mirror+stalk assemblies or just the mirrors? My recollection of riding the 1200 is that the mirrors were further out from the bars than they seem to be on the 650, but I may well be mistaken. Maybe it was just the wider bars that gave me virtually unobstructed rear view, whereas my shoulders occupy at least 50% of the 650 mirrors.

The mirrors and stalks come complete. The new ones are lower than the 1200's ones, tho' this doesn't affect rear vision. As for width, they're ever so slightly wider than the 1200 type which probably helps with the better rear view. I've found that with the longer shaped mirror compared to the round jobbie, this contributes to said rearward view.
