After extracting the exe I've also got a single file with the extension .nrg which my comp (running "xp" for home) doesn't know what to do with it.

Any ideas anyone?

The single file you end up with is a "disk image" that needs transferring to a CD using Nero or similar (whatever disk burning prog came with your drive/PC)

If you don't have a CD burner then you may have some luck with an "ISO" reading utility such as ISOBuster http://www.isobuster.com/ - I can't remember what it is capable of without registering

Had a go at doing this with Roxio but once disc was burnt still no joy. Have now manged to convert the NRG file to an ISO file (sounds like I know what I'm talkin about ) then burnt another copy with the new file and success !!!! Now finally I have a CD.
Might have been better to have bought one and spent the time on me GS though .

Get a (trial) copy of WinRAR from http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

EDIT: - although the original thread mentions the first file is a RAR "EXE" so it ought to unpack automagically without installing WinRAR - it's been a while since I downloaded them.

WinRAR now runs, when trying to open the .nrg file with WinRAR, after the extraction process, WinRAR wants to install again, after accepting the install, WinRAR returns with an error dialog box, "some files could not be created, Please close all applications, reboot windows and restart this installation"
I do this and try again but the same thing happens.

Can anybody offer help please?

I think that you need Nero.
If you're really struggling and don't want to buy Nero I'm going on the Rainbow GS ride out in June if you can wait that long?
I can either bring you a cd with Nero on it or a cd with the manual, whichever you want.

Just let me know.
