Them Scottishland boys are wild for showing off:augie

Courage

Yes, it is what the bike is designed for BUt how many of have the courage or the thick enough wallet to try it! Unless you are going to be travelling fast off road, I would suggest, take off the windscreen. Only a few minutes, and you could save an expensive breakage.

one thing chuckin the bikes around on the bmw offroad course...........but no way... would i do that to my 8 mth old bike................no friggin way...

But thats not the track it's the farmers field thats getting shredded

Not good for keeping the tracks open to us
That track has been closed for over a year due to damage
I wonder how long before it's closed again.... Maybe for good

I took my Landcruiser on a course designed for them when it was less than two weeks old. The way I figured it the course was supposed to be LC friendly so it seem the best place to see what it was capable of...

I haven't done the BM offroad day yet, but I have done a Husky trail day... I've got to ask, why do a offroad riding course if you aren't going to take your bike offroad???

Give it a shot, I've dropped my GSA a few times, they are built to take most of it...

" why do an offroad course if you aren't going to take your bike offroad???" ...
Just for fun. Do you need to have any other reason? You could ask why do a track day if you don't intend to race or why learn to shoot if you don't intend to kill anything or anybody!

A simple answer is that off road riding improves your all round bike handling skills, so the next time a GS'er arrives at a crowded pub gravel car park he's less likely to embarrass himself:blast

Oh and they know how to stand on the pegs when there's dust on the tarmac:rolleyes::D

Hi Tim,

Only just discovered this thread - the link to the 3rd UK Advrider Rally is not that obvious from the title, isn't it? I was waiting for your photos, too.

Will you post them in the main report on the other site at some point? I can imagine that the other participants would really appreciate your pics.

Cheers! :thumb2

in Robbie's defence, he was gesticulating and shouting "But the tracks that way" but to no avail, folks were having too good a time trying to get up the hill.

get a drz 400 or something similar and ride that if you don't want to damage your precious, it's still good fun, you just ride faster

Rob

edit... I see that you have a drz !!

Excellent pictures. Thanks :D

As for me "sleeping" on my KTM.....I like to think of it as a well earned rest after trying several times to get up that slope...and failing

Fair enough - then that's another point we have to address when we instruct the groups at the start of the ride-out (especially when we have participants from the continent who are not aware how sensitive the issue is over here).
