Yes, it is what the bike is designed for BUt how many of have the courage or the thick enough wallet to try it! Unless you are going to be travelling fast off road, I would suggest, take off the windscreen. Only a few minutes, and you could save an expensive breakage.

That track has been closed for over a year due to damage

I took my Landcruiser on a course designed for them when it was less than two weeks old. The way I figured it the course was supposed to be LC friendly so it seem the best place to see what it was capable of...

I haven't done the BM offroad day yet, but I have done a Husky trail day... I've got to ask, why do a offroad riding course if you aren't going to take your bike offroad???

Give it a shot, I've dropped my GSA a few times, they are built to take most of it...

Just for fun. Do you need to have any other reason? You could ask why do a track day if you don't intend to race or why learn to shoot if you don't intend to kill anything or anybody!

A simple answer is that off road riding improves your all round bike handling skills, so the next time a GS'er arrives at a crowded pub gravel car park he's less likely to embarrass himself

Oh and they know how to stand on the pegs when there's dust on the tarmac

get a drz 400 or something similar and ride that if you don't want to damage your precious, it's still good fun, you just ride faster

Fair enough - then that's another point we have to address when we instruct the groups at the start of the ride-out (especially when we have participants from the continent who are not aware how sensitive the issue is over here).
