Hi,
my 1200 hads squeeky front breaks. Dose yours?

It's two years old, 17000mls, regular servicing, breaks been squeeking like a taxi for so long now I can't remember when it started.

They work very well 'as good as any others I've used' just wondering if I'm the only one that sounds like I'm riding a taxi :nenau

There is a modification to cure this problem,Should have been done under warranty ,Its some type of washers fitted on disc bolts ,Cured mine:thumb

I had to ask to have this done on my 05. I think as some did and some didnt dealers may not have done so automatically. It works. I would imagine as it was a known problem one some and was done for free fingers crossed they will sort it.

As Dr Rich says, you have to ASK the dealer for this, it was only for people who complained about brake noise and not a generall recall campaign.

All they do is fit some black coloured PTFE washers between the disk and the wheel/disk bolts to prevent the disk vibrating and allow it to move on its disk bobbins when it is gripped by the pads.

Cures the noise, can't see why it wasn't done from build as standard ?

Did mine myself when i changed the disc bolts for stainless items, the parts you need are - 34117697387, and 34117682434, one set of each.

Mine squeak too, and I've only just got the bike! Gonna go back in and have a word :nono

Not only do mine make the normal squeaking, i.e. just when coming to a stop when using them hard (front and back), but they make this horrible squeaky/rubbing sound on the front as soon as I use the brake at all. Glad it's a known warranty problem anyway, though I'd refuse to pay a penny regardless ;)

Could just be a fiendish ploy though, they know next time I'm going in I'll be looking at boots and gloves :D
