1200GS Runs like a dog

Just had mine done

Before:
Prominent power surge at 5,000rpm. Fairly high, and not even idle. Engine braking in 3rd gear rpms dropping until hitting ca 2,500 rpms where it gives a noticeable surge. Difficult to go around small roundabouts in 1st or 2nd on low throttle - very on-off control. Not happy going over 120mph (in theory of course). Theoretical wheelies are harder to pick up and control.

After:
Linear power deliver across the range. Idles lower and nicer now. No surge when engine braking. Smooth low-rpm throttle control - a pleasure going around small roundabouts. Happily approaches 130mph (in theory of course), and longer (theoretical) wheelies thanks to the smoother power delivery.

To summarise I'd say that the rattling Ducatiesque bike is gone on favour for a more inline-four-style riding experience.

One thing that I was told when I picked the bike up was that the bike will now relearn it's own mechanics (Terminator: I haav a leauning see pee yooo), for the next 500 miles or so

Thanks to Matthew at North Oxford Garage for giving the bike a new character.

Well worth doing!
