1250 GSA pics

I won't be changing my 2015 GSA, suits me perfectly and after being Hilltopped is smoother than a smooth thing on smooth FM... Pulls like a train, never had any issues with the quick shifter and i actually prefer the looks of the pre 1250 bikes...

Which is exactly what they did .

You’d think for the 1250 they would have integrated it like KTM did on 1290.

Integrating the on/off switch over to the handlebar will require a new design of the switchgear. The current switchgear is LIN-bus and needs power to work.
Also the steering lock is integrated in the current On/Off switch assembly.

I see your point, as does probably BMW. May be when the next generation switchgear is out...

I had assumed they left it like that so like the Ducati MTS1200, if you lost the key when out there is an override that you key in a pin and away you go. Maybe not ?

The only other way is to start the bike is to give it a reach around with the spare dongle and have a feel around under the rear wheel arch until you get her going.

Yep. Lift rear seat off and place fob-dongle thingy so it's touching the wheel arch mid point and you can start the bike.

you dont need to remove the seat, you place the key underneath the plastic shit shield

Didn't know that. Thought it was the same as for earlier bikes.

They all had same system from day one when it got introduced on GS/A range. There is receced area on the underside of mudguard at the rear that is where you hold the plastic key up against. no need to remove the seat. Have you read the instructions manual? :rob:blast

I’ve always thought that was a daft place to put it, as you’d be scrabbling around the dirty underside of the bike. It would make much more sense to put the sensor higher up, nearer the front of the bike. Like KTM does!:D

It is a bit of silly place, but I guess KTM picked up on that and done something about it.

Of course I have!!! :rob

The picture gives little away on P49 of the manual and the language used doesn't exactly pin point the exact area either.....quote:

"...touching the radio operated key against the rear wheel cover will start the engine...."

and:

"Hold emergency key 1 or radio operated key with empty battery 2 at the rear wheel cover level with aerial 3"

The picture suggests where aerial 3 might be but rather unhelpfully it's more of a close up so it's left for you to go round the rear wheel arch cover with the key until you find the spot at which the ignition will activate. I discovered that by removing the seat and placing the key midway over the rear arch, it activated the ignition hence my comments.

There's an indented circle to place it on.
Gawd n bennet

I'm looking at the manual right now and for all those used to the bikes and knowing this stuff who are slapping their heads, it's not as bleeding obvious as the smart-alec sarcastic responses make out. Easy to find a spot where it will work? Yes. Easy to relate the crappy pic in the manual to an exact point on the bike? No...not until you find said point after poking about for a bit. Nuff said, point found. Bleeding 'eck, talk about unnecessary unpleasantness!

Just watching the EICMA announcement. The new GSA looks like an awful mish-mash of pieces. Nothing really flows like the current model.

That silver thing on the front looks like a tinfoils plate got stuck behind the engine bars while you were riding down the road.
I am underwhelmed.
Though I confess I like the kind of olive green as that was my previous favourite colour.

Edit to note turns out the olive isn’t an olive it’s the exclusive.

Also did the LED lights always have BMW LED written on them?

So it wasn't just me that thought the new GSA looked ........ shite.
That silver bit looks like an after thought and also looks more like the standard GS.

Just paint it black, or vinyl.

Job done :)
