You’re completely missing the point. I’ve had zero issues with my KTM, as have most others, so I’m more than happy to buy another one.

The current GS with all the issues is embarrassing, so it makes me laugh that people would rush to buy another first year bike when the current model still has a lot of issues.

If it's to any comfort, lots of people will buy the new bike because they have a current GS/GSA LC with no issues as well.

The GS/GSA is not the best selling bike for BMW because the customers are idiots. It's the best selling bike because it delivers what they want from a bike.
They percive it as a comfortable and reliable bike.

If any one of us is buying the new 1250 and this will brings you in a good mood, well, that would be win - win, right?

In all honesty I have never bought the first model of anything including the other half..........:D

5 LC’s. The first one had bent forks, the second GSA had the paint rub off the frame, tank & swing arm within the first week of ownership. It seems that the current GS bikes are similar to a game of Russian roulette, and it surprises me that some people are happy to buy the next model when the current one still has so many issues.

So you bought 5 GS LC bikes even with the faults you listed. Ergo, by your own and Arseys analysys, you must be a blinkered muppet ! :nod

And here’s our fav Merkin Cockwomble showing us how it’s done .....

This was actually quite interesting to watch.
Beats me how they got the photos from all different angles, but the video clearly demonstrates why we should not race on public roads.

Also, to the ones debating the build quality of the bikes, I find it amusing to observe that while the HP4 of the stupid driver was rolled onto the truck with very limited visible damages, the opposing bike more or less disintegrated.

I mentioned to my dealer that my 2016 GSA was at end of pcp in October 2019 and I would look at the new one. He hinted that I might want to give it a few more months!

Hardly. Three didn’t have faults, two did. Read my post again.

The difference being that I’ve moved away from the GS, and wouldn’t consider another one until there’s a marked improvement in build quality. Is that the actions of someone blinkered? :tosser

About a year ago you bought a brand new GS Rallye, declared it to be brilliant, then sold it with very little mileage and presumably no issues (I was really tempted by that bike which is why I remember it!). So what changed between then and now in your personal experience?

Maybe it did have faults ?

You mentioned earlier that most GS (greater than 50% say) have faults but your self informed experience states only 40% having faults......make up your mind which is it.

Oh and while you are at it let us know why you torture yourself posting 22k times in the LC section. i think you are the knuckle shuffler.

I saw the light and went orange!:D

Joking aside, one of the main reasons I kept the KTM and sold the Rallye was that the sport Suspension on the Rallye was too firm for my back. With regular suspension, it probably would have been a tougher decision to make.

In my personal experience, two out of five bikes had issues. I wouldn’t call the firm suspension in my post above an issue with the bike, more an issue for me.

But since I sold it, there seems to be issue after issue coming up on a regular basis on here. The spoke problem being one of the main ones recently. I know it’s easy to read about issues on forums, then make rash decisions, but the quality of products on the GS has definitely been going downhill over recent years.

Don’t get me wrong, I think the GS is a fanstastic bike, and a lot of my posts here are a bit tongue in cheek (as some of the longer term folk here know), so I definitely wouldn’t rule another one out in the future. And if I do get one, you lot can take the piss and pull my leg, that’s a given! But it won’t be for a while yet.

I still smile fondly whenever I see one on the road, as I know how good the bike can be, and I’ve done a lot of miles on them over the years. But BMW need to get their act together on the quality of the product, and stop outsourcing items to cut costs where quality is suffering (spoked wheels/ paint thickness).

And as to the 22k posts, they aren’t just limited to this section, I post bollocks all over this wonderful forum! :D

Would need a very large courtroom for all the other suspects also, but it is all in good fun, and must be taken that way, once you see it is all honest crap, just move on.......:hippy

"I saw the light and went orange"...LOL You crack me up...:D
So you went from a GS Rallye to a 1290 KTM that has a little bit more top-end .
But at what cost ?
Hobby horse handling with mucho forkdive.
High speed stability issues with bags on.
Cheap plasticy looks.
Not many dealerships with parts issues.
Reliability issues and higher maintenance costs.
Chaindrive...:(
You are a genius...:thumb
Don't get me wrong I would still take a KTM over any Multilala or Afreekatween but to go to KTM because BMM's have reliability or quality issues - that is the best joke I have heard in a long time :thumb
