Andy you should only believe the lies you read on Wikipedia...:D
But I stand corrected as Ernst Degner was the name of the traitor who stole Kaadens secrets...a good man who was on the team developing the first guided missiles and who later refused to work for the americans...:thumb
Hope you are happy now and I feel so much better knowing the truth...;)

Yesterday on a twisty road I came up on a local rider in full leathers with kneesliders on his "superior" 1290 Super Duke GT.He tried to escape but after 5 minutes riding his arse he waved me by on his Ready to Race machine...:D
...

There's always someone faster and on this occasion your were that person or was you !! unless you rode like a dick to try and keep up and the rider on the GT felt the safest option was to let you past, rather than kill yourself. Maybe he did you a favour !

Please don't tell me a GS is quicker than a 1290GT.

That’s better. Now spend some money buying the book Stealing Speed and read what happened then if you ever get to tour Europe on a bike go to Augustusburg Castle (Saxony, Germany) and visit the museum to see the race bikes and watch the period film which tells the story from an East German point of view when it happened.

I lived in germany for a while and have been to a lot of motorcycle museums...don't remember if I watched that video though as I never really cared about 2-strokes.Liked the book the Nazi-TT !
I always love to play with KTM's.Of course in a straight line the 1290 is faster but in the twisties and especially on bumpy pavement I have never encountered a rider that was "Ready to Race"...:D
The GS always won...:thumb
Of course on the track I ride the S1000RR as the GS has no chance or business being there but you can still have fun with a GS on the track if you know it's limitations;ground clearance, tires that can stand the heat if you are fast enough and of course only 125hp while heavy and aerodynamic as a barn-door...;) But if you are a good rider you can still embarrass some lesser riding-gods on real sportsbikes with your GS which is always fun...:D
There is a reason the No.1 bike in the alpes is the GS.There is no faster bike in this environment and a KTM being a bike from the alps too has no chance against a GS despite being superior on paper and "Ready to Race"...Trust me !
Only bike that would be better would be a slightly lighter GS with 17 inch wheels with more TORQUE to steer into fire out of the turns even quicker as you don't utilize 8000 rpm or 125 hp in the alps very often,or better very seldom !
The GS-Rally was the best bike for the alps last year and is it again at this years Alpen-Masters for a reason !

I wish I was as good as you, you sound like a proper riding God. Do your friends blow as much smoke up your arse as you do?

Forgot to mention I had one problem.First it felt weak, weaker than the Eu-3 models. But after a factory ECU remap it runs great. No need to hilltop it...;) making 117 rwhp !
If the 1250 makes 129 rwhp I'm willing to be one of the first because 2021 when Euro-5 comes bikes will run even leaner and quieter...:(
If the EU-SSR should survive...;)
Let's hope not:beerjug:

117 at the wheel with a bmw remap? What a load of tosh!

The standard engine produces 124 at the crank so there’s no way it only loses 7 through the drive...I’m no mechanic but you are living on a different planet.

Fuck me, (in yer dreams :D) but I'm humbled by this thread. When the new GS arrives can this be made a sticky in the new section.

Yesterday on a twisty road I came up on a local rider in full leathers with kneesliders on his "superior" 1290 Super Duke GT.He tried to escape but after 5 minutes riding his arse he waved me by on his Ready to Race machine.....

Last week when out on me Nan's C90 I looks in me mirrors and see's this behemoth bearing down on me quick style. Feck me he nearly took me ears off as he went by so close you couldn't have gotten a feeler gauge between us and what's more he just gave me a look of distain when I gave him the bikers nod.
The old red mist descends and I'm fighting to control it but before you know it the gap that he had opened up on me suddenly shrinks more rapidly than I could ever have thought possible and I'm right on his tail.
He cops me about to overtake him and gives it the full right twist grip and zooms off again but is closed down exactly as before. This gapping and closing down through the twisties goes on for the next ten miles untill he finally slows down and stops to see exactly what this upstart is riding that could possibly keep up with his uber adventure styled street slayer.
Seeing my modest steed made him topple over in disbelief, but fortunately those sticky out things on the engine saved his legs.
Picking himself up he remarked that I must be a riding God to have kept closing him down every time he sped away. The look on his face as I explained that his mirror had hooked on my braces as he had zoomed past was priceless :D

That ones just for you boxerlust as I know how much you like imaginary tales of derring do :jes

Keep it real eh

Getting back to the original story, is this real or just fantasy like the last 2 years the story has appeared. As for the dealer told me, my experience is they are often the last to know.
Any one remember when the, I think it was the 2016 model was released which was basically the 2015 with updates to meet Euro 4. Then a couple of months later they announced the
Executive and the Rallye. I talked to my dealer at the time and they were not happy as they knew nothing about the Executive when the original euro4 updates modesl was release and
had been told that was the 2016 model.

You really are living in another world!

Somebody find that video of two sports bikes (R1's? Blades ?) racing one another in the alps a couple of months ago ....

The bloke is on a wind up, as he doesn’t reply to anyone on the thread, and keeps posting the same bullshit in every post. It’s not often I put people on ignore, but this guy is a grade A cockwomble.

This summer I went on the Motorrad tour to the Motorrad days in Garmisch. Rode my 2018 GS which in fairness was faultless, even had the TFT screen as well.
But, it was boring. Just bought a new Triumph Street Triple to add to my collection and it is the most fun i’ve ever had with my trousers on!
Wondering whether i’m now getting to old (68) for heavy adventure bikes and need to look maybe at the Triumph 800 series or the new F850.

HP is not everything, power to weight the Street Triple is not far behind the GS but my goodness you can really throw it around.
