1250GS Hill Start Control problem

just a thought if you have bike on ferry can u use the hill hold would be a bit more safer for bike movement or does the hill hold cancel itself once ignition is switched off?

I was working my way through the TFT menus today (learning curve) and came across the HSA sub menu for Hill Start Assist (Manual or Auto).

Can anybody tell me what the difference is, I left it in Auto as it worked fine the first time I used it.
