Thinking I might need to replace my 1250GSA battery due to slow cranking of engine when cold. Is fine when engine has been run but suspect battery on way out...is 4 yrs old and 24,000 mls. Was wondering if to go for oe replacement or suitable aftermarket option. Any recommendations...

Lots of battery threads but the hybrid motobatt comes out as a general winner (can take a standard charger as well). Have a quick search and the thread should come up.

The one I have come across on eBay is the motobatt MHTX16 hybrid battery, is that the one you suggest... shows it fitting 1250GSA from 2019 to 2024...

I asked my dealer if they supplied Motobatt they came back with Yuasa YTX14H-BS (which isn't Motobatt) but said it has similar cranking power.
When my battery dies I will replace with one, although i didn't realise they were so expensive

If you dont want to pay for the Yuasa go for the Motobatt.

They all use the same battery spec for 2013 to 2024 (1200/1250 are basically fully compatible with each other)

Motobatt similar price...

That's worth knowing.... As a point of interest I had a look on Halfords website and it shows Yuasa YTX14H-BS batteries for just short of £80 but also shows non in stock 🙄

Guys if you want real cranking amps (350) then I cannot stress enough to buy the hybrid battery and NOT the Yuasa

My Yuasa still couldn't keep up with the GSA and left me stranded on a couple of occassions so after reading what Pukmeister had done I opted for one of these

Absolute zero issues since (Nov 2022), doesn't need a fancy charger (I charge mine using a CTEK 5.0), weighs much less and you gain space inside the battery box. Absolutely brilliant battery

Glad your Hybrid is still cranking out the easy starting, as is mine.

Bloody thing bursts into life whether hot or cold, short trip or long (unlike the crap OE battery).

I've got the same battery, excellent cold cranking power.

just be careful if you want to charge these, need an entirely different charger for lithium

Motobatt for me too - put on the Yuasa 16ah around 4 years ago, replaced a couple of weeks ago due to slow cranking. It never showed more than 12.7v off-charge. The new Motobatt hybrid is currently showing 13.4 after not being used since last Thursday, despite the bike having a tracker.

According to the young chap at Halfords the Yuasa YTX14H-BS is no longer available from them. YTX14-BS still in stock... Will contact Tayna as suggested tomorrow.
