For running around on my own on those days / trips, where I want some stuff, but don't want to take panniers or top box, I have fitted the Kriega luggage straps to the rear bodywork.

Even though it's just self tapped into, what is in effect just a bit of plastic fairing, it's a very strong hold and I have absolutely no concerns about its strength and durability. It allows me to ride daily with waterproofs, a compressor and a stop n go kit. And that's just day to day running around.
If I want to carry more, I can double up my kriega bags, and if i really want to load up the bike (so lets say camping at Dent in may) I can take panniers and still add the kriega bags. The straps loops look good whilst being pretty under the radar.
