1300RT…..

And not even a Goldwing :ROFLMAO:
What’s that monstrosity on the back ?

You’d never waste the words ‘graceful’ or ‘pleasing to the eye’ on it would you? It looks like it was designed by a 14 yr old kid who’s been subjected to too many episodes of Transformers.

I’m not in a position to buy one in any case, but I think I’d sooner get a later 1250RT when it’s time to move on from the current 1200.

It's pretty impressive that you can get to over £30k for a boxer RT😉

My thoughts.
1. Styling. It's okay but nothing radical, but
2. I don't like the black engine, wheels and all. Personal preference I know, but on the darker colour options, it just looks like a black hole. No definition of what's down there.
3. Standard seat height's gone up which may or may not cause problems for some.
4. The alternator now kicks out 650w. Considering everything is LED why, but is suppose good for accessory laden bikes.
5. E15, I guess it inevitable that it's on its way.
6. BMW haven't addressed the low 'payload'. 229kg sounds a lot, but that doesn't include any extras, such as the almost mandatory top box, engine bars or extra lights. Taking the weight of them out of that 229kg and that does leave much for two peoples worth of kit after you factor in the weight of a rider & pillion dress in ATGATT.
7. Emissions. 113g/km isn't that good and is actually worse than the 1250

Sounds like a girl I once new

That could be a good thing, one reason I never considered buying the last model RT was because the peg to seat distance was too small, your legs were folded up like a sports bike which always seemed like a giant oversight for a touring bike

This was something I noticed on an extended ride with the previous RT and as I quite like the look of the new RT it could be a viable alternative for a new GSA once any initial version 1 bugs have been ironed out.

A couple of other thoughts.
a/ Has the exhaust flap problem been sorted out?
b/ The Cardan shaft shaft problem been sorted out and is it a part for life or need replaceing after 36k or whatever?

Just been watching this video and he says it’s actually lower now with the peg to seat distance unchanged :(

There's no manual for the R1300RT visible on the BMW website yet so can't check the maintenance schedule but the schedule in the R1300GS/A manual states inspect & lube every 12k miles and replace every 48k miles, presumably at customer cost.

I'm really happy that I have the 1250RT. It retains much of the styling charm the RT lineage has always had. This new thing looks like a plastic toy from a transformers set! Very Teutonic and all square edges and sharp lines. The price is enough to put me off even if the styling isn't. I won't be tempted! Love the 1250 which is what I'll stay with.

Back in 2003 when purchased the 115RT I thought it was the best. The 1200RT came out and was visually a massive change. But after a ride put down a deposit. It was the first bike to break the £10000 barrier. Actually it was almost £13000 in 2005.
My left hand is bothering the ASA will keep me on the road for few more years 😉
I want to see it in flesh.
