Not a question just an observation, My bike had been parked in the sun all day and as i turned on the ignition I had 2 bars on the temp guage, went up to 3 in the space of a couple off hundred yards. Was normal for the journey home, just a fast warm up, any body else had this?

softee!

park up in the sun here for a couple of hours and then try to get on again without asbestos pants and you´ll see what happens.

Not an oilhead myslef, but bikes set up for one temperature and run in one very different tend to behave badly

My 1100GS when parked in shade but with an ambient temperature of around 38ºC has one bar showing when I turn the ignition on.

Then when taking off, I'm up the scale in a very short space of time.

I've noticed this over 4 summers and no harm done so I wouldn't worry too much if I were you, however, I wouldn't ever let my bike idle to get warm, even in Winter which it is now here.

Mick.

Happened to me too the other evening.

Made me think though, another few months and I'll need to ride 3 or 4 miles in the cold and dark before any bars show
