iirc from the stats 60 percent of bikers incidents where they are killed or injured occurr between 1200 and 1800 hrs on a Sunday so i rarely venture out on a Sunday

It is somewhat dispiriting to see how some of our own seemed to have assumed it was the fault of the bikers involved.
The truth is, I can't say I've not been guilty of making the same assumption myself on occasion.

It's the same old story every year, sadly......the chances are pretty high that these two are born again summer bikers and were on machines that bite......after a long winter lay up, a 140+BHP machine can be a very unforgiving toy.
Pure guesswork obviously, but it's an annual event
In todays society everyone is a twat until they can prove otherwise.
Same as you now have to prove you are innocent in so many situations.
All wrong, just so fucking wrong.![]()
Because it probably was
Being 'in the right' or an accident being caused by a SMIDSY doesn't remove the fact that we do end up dead regardless of the 'blame'.
It's not 'right' and it's not 'fair', but right and fair mean fuck all when you're dead.

Based on what evidence exactly?
We cannot be expected to take responsibility for other people's actions. If someone doesn't see me and pulls out on me when I'm 10 yards away WTF am I supposed to do?
I'm certainly not taking responsibility for it, nor am I going to get off my RT and push it past every turning, junction and roundabout in case some fool's not paying attention. Apart from anything else she's far too heavy for that.
yes but you can obey 30 and 40 limits and ride accordingly and after that ride like no one has seen you especially at junctions just watch their front wheels for movement it's not hard to throttle back ffs
And if, whilst I'm doing 55 in a 60, they pull out on me when I'm 10 yards away it's still my fault is it? You might think it is but I am NOT taking the rap for it.
I'm with JB on this, it is shocking.
All that we can actually be sure of is that, after the deaths of two riders, for their family members, friends, colleagues and so on, lives will not be the same; and for some totally devastated. For them the blame casting is not an issue, not yet, and when it is, all they usually really want, is to understand
It's perhaps natural to speculate on the causes of the accidents, be ready to cast blame on drivers, or the mentality/attitude/skills of the riders themselves, anything to distance ourselves from the reality that it might be us, tomorrow, the next day... or perhaps never.
Having been to too many motorcycle crashes like these, having known some who've died, I am always left with a profound sadness for those left behind, balanced against the gratitude that I can still ride and enjoy life, for the time I'm allowed. I've ridden for a long time, I'm qualified to the hilt but I too can make as stupid a mistake as the next person, it might just do for me next time too....
Perhaps we'll get to find out what really happened, perhaps we won't, perhaps it doesn't really matter in the end.
Shocked? well perhaps really I'm just saddened, yet again

its the rapid deceleration when you hit something that gets ya

"Here lies the body of Peter Wright
who knew he was right all along.
But he's now just as dead
as if he'd been wrong"
Of course we have to wait to find out what happened before jumping to conclusions Bill, but one of the accidents occurred at a junction
But my thirty years, mostly as a bike cop, I'd put this weeks pension on the fact that at a junction a motorcycle accident will be the fault of a car driver
Unless the crazy loon of a biker is doing sixty in a thirty
