2009-02-22 - Event - Salisbury Plain Enduro

Thankfully the forecast looks dry and mild, stark contrast to the last one. I'm driving down in a silver Discovery.

Alex,my son, and i are off 2nd and third, not that im an over competitive parent or any thing, il be happy to beat him into the first bend!!! but i doubt i will.

Remember to put on your 1000 yard stare, get your elbows out and thump the bars with about 10 seconds to go, just so the lad knows who's going to get the holeshot:D

hahaha he was doing the Haka at the start :oonyack But onistly was great fun but f*ck me I feel like I have 4tonnes of weight hanging off my legs and arms

I`m on the Bultaco Marshalling, will be cheering all on :D
Thanks for your advice Marshall :D

I've got a few, just been going through them...

Alex I think I've got a couple of good ones of you and Ian (muzvmc 121) think I've also got a good one of your dad, let me sort through and upload them... links to come

edit: Alex were you running with 02 on the front?

Just got back home and completely 100% knackered. But happy:)

Last event I managed 5 laps with best lap time of 30 minutes. Target this time was to better that every lap and complete 6 laps. Mission accomplished.:)

Great to meet up with so many good people again and thanks to all the fellow tossers who turned up to support.:)

Huge thanks to Bakerman and family for excellent hospitality.:beerjug:

Big thanks to Jeremy for acting as my fuel man at mid point stop. Surprisingly my KTM 300 had drunk a fair bit of fuel after only a few laps. I think Jeremy got some photos that he will post later.

Only had one real off all day and that was right by start line where there were hundreds watching. One cameraman said he captured me in mid-somersault as I lost the front end on a drop.

I was wearing my Polar heart monitor and it recorded a maximum heart rate of 183 with an average over 3 hours of 168! I guess that tells me that I'm seriously unfit and a heart attack waiting to happen.

Great event. :D

Must go and have long relaxing bath now.

Sid

HATS OFF TO YOU GUYS :clap

I`m sure my 9 lap total was whipped into touch today, by all No`s 2/3/7/20/120/121 .

What a great event, the Sun came out it was nice and dry, and I really wish I was out there, great course.

Good to be Marshalling, putting something back into the event.:ronno

Will post some pictures after my dinner :D

Full set here if anyone wants a look, feel free to download anything you like.

Superd day out.Body feels 110% shatterd.Managed 5 laps in the end,had time for 1 more but my arms just wouldnt hang on to that bars !!
Course was great as was the weather.Thought I could ride a bike ok before this - some of those guys just went past me so fast .
Had a few interesting moments but only one "off "in the waterlogged chalky clay bit.

Thank you for all the support and wise words - Bakerman,Jeremy,Sid and David

The picture is me at the end - Knackerd but very very happy

Don't knock it, as someone who thought the same and achieved a lot less last time around, you have done really well, but there will always be someone quicker...

No worries Alex, my pleasure, more luck than judgement that I got so many of you and Ian, Ian's was the only number I knew to look out for and 9 time out of 10 he'd sailed past me before I could read his numbers. :D

Great day out, im a bit sore!!! great to see every one today riding surporting and directing! Its great to line up at the start with your son, i realy enjoyed that aspect, and did he beat me? no it was a draw on 9 each:beerjug:

Thanks for the pics Liquidlan. Some great shots there:bow

What a fine day out. I hadn't ridden down there for years and it was even rougher than I remembered!!!!!
Started off steady to try and avoid arm pump and backed off when it started.
First couple of lap's were just over 17 minutes. Settled into a rythm by lap 3 and 4 and felt really good especially considering I haven't done any racing for a while.
Hand's started to blister on lap 5 so when I stopped for fuel on lap 6 pit wrapped some duct tape round them which stopped the blisters getting real bad. Quick re-fuel and a banana and off again. Got lap time down to 15 min now although starting to feel it!!!
Into the last hour and it's fairly quiet out on the course so tried to keep pushing hard as it was the best way to keep focused on all the hole's out there!!

The last couple of laps were probably not very pretty to watch though!!

Finished on 11 lap's, very very sore today with just a bit of internal bleeding!!
Must get someting with suspension.
Nice to meet up with some of you yesterday.
Thanks to Bakerman for appearing all over the place giving encouragement.
