2009 GSA

dont feel sorry for me-infact...

unless the new ones come in the super cool 06 white i feel sorry for all the new buyers, lets face it auto this and electronic that dont mean diddley squat on a uncool red or black bike:augie

let the :handbag commence:)

Outdated?

But i do feel sorry for those who have an 06/07 model which is outdated so soon.

Don't feel sorry for people who like the 'old' bikes they're on. I've got a 2004 GSA with 70,000 on the clock, and still enjoy riding it as much as I did when it was new. Tried a 1200 ADV for a few hours last year, and it was lighter, faster, smoother gearchange, but certainly wasn't comfier. It didn't 'feel' better though. We're ok muddling along with our old, outdated heaps, so don't worry too much :D

Yeah I'm dead jealous
According to BM the 09 model will have a 3 l engine do 200 mph, weigh 75kg have a low ratio box, and make you 10 times as attractive to women....

I am one of the lucky ones who is getting a 2008 gsa this week. But i do feel sorry for those who have an 06/07 model which is outdated so soon. Apart from a better colour choice the new one seems to be better in most aspects.
However what will bmw do in 2009 ? make the 2008 model old hat?

Don't feel sorry for me Oly, I bought my 07 GSA privately when it was 3 months old and saved almost 3.5k on the list price. :augie

Once you get the colour right enjoy the bike and try not to think too much about the depreciation :D:D

:jes

Dont feel sorry for me either. I've had my 07 since March last year and done loads of trips, off road events, Pyrenees tour and had nothing but great fun! What you been doing for the last 12! :-)

Me too. April 2007. 18200k's and never looked back. Stunning machine.:beerjug:

In general i find newer/more modern is better.
There are not many things that are older and better.
Granted the colour schemes for the 08 gsa are rubbish.
The alpine white of the previous model is the best colour.
But it is easier to paint a couple of panels white than try and retro fit alot of the new extras. Most which are impossible.
Still, my bike will be an old model very soon if bmw have their way

Each to their own oly....... but I think starting the origianal thread with feeling sorry for us folk that have an older model to you didn't win you many friends.

White Aluminium was the best colour!:nenau

its all good fun captain.

Yes mate, asked the dealer when I bought it to order the bike (White Aluminium) with a Red seat...I also had the sticker on the tank changed to Red and those horrid green pannels changed to black....works for me.

Best upgrade though was fitting a full Remus (CAT off)
system with Titanium Remus Revolution can....:bounce1

'I feel sorry for you' having to remove the ESA, ASC, Tyre pressure readout amongst making the beak bigger, adding a starter motor cover, changing the top yoke, adding a bar brace, swapping the hand guards, changing the petrol cap, reducing the stock power......etc......etc..... to make it the same spec as mine........:augie

:DEnjoy the world of GSA :thumb2:bounce1

Not convinced newer is better. - just newer is different.

On 08 model
Handguards are definately worse.
ESA maybe not as useful as first thought - there are set positions - maybe one inbetween would be more suitable.
Gearbox - not convinced any smoother -the best and smoothest is on my R1200S - now that is smooth.
Extra 5bhp - could get this on the old model with a good remap.

I had an '07 and swapped for an '08 - not convinced of the benefit vs money spent.

White - by far the best colour

I would not feel sorry for those with an older model - just think of the money saved.

now we are being silly.
Why would i specify all the extras and take them off

Read reports from ride, bike, t.w.o
and motorcycle sport and leisure.

none of them say the older model is better.

esa - better

gearbox - better

power - more

ride - better

only thing i agree with is the colour.

I didnt want either red nor magnesium but i will probably take off the panels and paint them
