At 125mph i would be more worried about my head being ripped off my shoulders.

That's not a problem - but I would have to be travelling vertically downwards and the landing would worry me 
On my old 1150 with the tall gearbox I did see 123 on the GPS and it wouldn't pull any more, it was if there wasn't the power to overcome the air resistance, it was just touching 7000 and had more to go on the rev counter, but it bogged down. Having go it out of my system, I then spent the rest of my ownership trying to get as many miles out of tyres and fuel tank as possible.
