Have any of you got slippage problems with the clutch in these late models?
WOT accelerating 2# and 3# gear, clutch slipping in 6000 up rpms. Normal gear chance with civilized clutch operation, just after "torque notch" the rpm jumps but speedo does not. I first thought I was burning the rear tyre but nope, speedo would rise. Only about 9000mls and never abused clutch. Further testing is needed but little problematic because 3# gear high rpms mean legally intolerable speeds. And no, no oil leakage signs.

I have short levers. Not causing this problem. Clutch would slip all the time.

For sure this is not normal for such a new bike.

What you describe is normal for bikes around 70.000Km and maybe more.

Do you get any clutch smell?

Also try to place the rear wheel in a step or hole and try to pull the bike out of it. See what happens.

Also have in mind that maybe clutch disk is OK, but some leak started from the clutch actuator.....:nenau

I humbly disagree, IME, the clutch can used as normal. 80K miles on the original clutch, with a preference for the gearbox over brakes and plenty of slipping in 1st/2nd gear around town etc says its ok.

Ollka, I've just had my clutch replaced under warranty. 2010 bike, 10,000 miles. Symptoms the same as you - at about five and a half to six thousand revs it would slip. I spoke with the dealer and they didn't hesitate to replace it. :thumb2

Ha Ha, yes that did make me laugh! wish I had a bike that span up the rear under acceleration ..... :D

Had the clutch replaced under warranty on my 2011 GS after 2000 miles because it was slipping. No oil on the clutch plates so they think it was a dodgy pressure plate.

My clutch slipped when accelerating hard in 5th gear at 5500rpm. I was gonna change it myself, but decided to keep riding it.

It has now sorted itself out on its own somehow, saving me a job. I can only presume it was a bit glazed and has now cleaned itself up with further use.

Bike got sliced in halves. Issue solved. Bad pressure plate.
Actually never seen one before, and boy i´ve seen some.
Pressure plate was concave which caused only ~20% contact area against clutch plate. No other signs of wear nor oil. Obviously quality control was taking a nap during production in Valeo clutch factory. Cant trust the French

I have a similar problem with my 6k mile 2010 GS. Clutch slips at ca 105-110mph in 6th on my private test track. Not tried or felt it in lower gears.

It's a BMW approved used bike, under warranty, so we'll see what the dealer says tomorrow. Sounds like maybe a faulty batch of clutch plates?

My (April 2011 build) GSA also suffered from clutch slip and had a new clutch fitted under warranty at 12000 miles. Only ever saw it in high gears (i.e. 5th/6th) and with WOT at/around peak torque revs - which is exactly what I would expect. I didn't see the old clutch after it had been replaced so no idea what the actual problem was.
