2010 GSA Front brake piston seals.

I've managed to source rear piston and dust seals but cannot seem to find anywhere that does a seal only set for the front brakes.

Anyone know if such a kit exists and if so where from?

Or am I stuck with ordering a full piston and seals kit even though the current pistons are in great condition?

As far as I know you can't buy just the seals for the front calliper, you have to buy the pistons as well. BMW have to make a living:augie
 
I needed one piston - looked like a stone chip, got it right on the bit where it won't be a good idea when you put new pads in
 
There is a simple answer to this: you can't get seals only.

Do yourself a huge favour and buy the BMW kit from BMW. Do not mess around with Motorworks after market kit or seals from elsewhere. You will only end up buying the BMW kit later on and doing the job again
 
I have stripped and cleaned up many a caliper including cleaning up the seals and refitting them for various bikes including my own Gs's and my
Himalayan over the years and never have i needed to replace any seals nor subsequently have i had any problems from not doing so.

So, unless you do definitely do have a problem with the seals just clean them and put them back.

Edit; I do however, ensure that the same seals go back into the same positions and in the same orientation as they came out.
 
most sticky pistons are caused by the seal looking fine as one looks at the piston bore... but when you slip out the seals, the grooves are full of nasty furry aluminium and bits of deteriorating seal...

until you pull out the seal (likely damaging the bits that matter fractionally - no matter how careful) and can then see and inspect things.... removing the gunk and treat the calliper body's corrosion, and can inspect the seals strange wobbly shape and suppleness (caused as its spent years being squashed out of shape by the corrosion and the immovable parts of the piston and calliper body) - not forgetting aging, from time, heat, nasty cleaning chemicals, UV etc. you don't know if the seal can be reused…..

all which means you should always have a set of pistons and seals before starting the job.... not forgetting its good practise to rebuild with fresh seals from the manu

And, there we have both extremes :blast You replace everything whether it needs it or not whilst i, normally, replace nothing and always have done it that way and, always will do, 'tis always so on forums :D
