Hi all

a bit of advice required.

I used to have a r1200gs, first the mk1 then the mk2. I traded the mk 2 in when it broke down on me and the dealer wanted silly money :mad:to put it right so chopped it in for a K1300s.

Now the K is a good bike in many ways but in others it can be a nightmare. The engine is down right beautiful and its warp speed quick (it makes the Millenium Falcon look slow) But its just a matter of time before the plod are behind me. Ive had it for two years and its toured done half a track day and taken me to work and back for most of its time. (please don't tell me a good ridden GS would have you) . Its not the best in the rain as on several ocasions the front seems slide out a little (MC PR3s) it eats brake pads, but it would when it hits 130mph in 3rd gear. There is a bit of corrosion starting to show.

Im now looking to trade in on the K and get a R12 WC ( I've had a shop around and the Ducati MS is too expensive and probably just as quick and i fell asleep on the VFR 1200 which I'm MHO is about 10 years behind in development:confused:)

I would go main dealer and get the warranty (i think i might need it?)

Is it all bad news are on here or is the WC a bike worth it ?

Thanks
Jim:thumb

Defiantly I had 3 K1300r's after my 05 & 07 GS's I have had my GS LC for a year and love it! The only thing I miss from the K is the quick shifter!

The bikes awesome and great fun. There's been some issues but all will have been sorted under warranty.
Beware of the Grim Reapers on here. The world is doomed..!!

I changed from a K1300GT in April to a new GS WC in April. The GS is much more comfortable and much faster out of the corners. It short its an awesome machine. Take one out for a test ride for a day and you will not want to hand it back. If your on a twisty road the new GS is much quicker and much more fun. Ride one and see for yourself.

As with all things, ultimately it's your decision. IMO and that's all it is I would have held on until all the issues with the model had been sorted. However that said it is a cracking bike and fantastic fun to ride.

If its any indication to you, I have a mint K1200s with low miles sitting in my garage that I get out for a speed fix occasionally, BUT after buying an early 2014 GS WC I'm going to sell it as I just can't see me using it anymore.. The GS WC just ticks so many boxes...
Good luck..

Tough choice i thinks you have pal, as you no the K is a cracker. I had one, fitted the Ac Schnitzer fat bar conversion a set of bst carbon wheels and it was a different bike again.

But it is really what floats ya boat as both do things different, i prefer the gs on the switchbacks but miss the insanely drive from the K.

But one will corrode well before t'other .

Ignore the scaremongery on here, and go for it.:thumb

You'll have a blast.:beerjug:

I have a 2013 TE with 7000 miles on the clock and it is fabulous... Best bike I've ridden. Would thoroughly recommend.

It's worth it! I have 9000km on mine and love it. As for the quickshifter... If you can get a 2014 model and fit the Gear Assist Pro... you'll love it even more!

What's going on this thread is way to positive over the LC, can't see that lasting! Shame it makes a nice change!

Frankly - this positive vibe is dammed annoying. I test rode the WC last week and was very impressed, just loved the way the engine spins up. I would say it beat my current 2011 GS by 8 goals to 2, but all the nay sayers on here had convinced me not to buy one. Now I am confused again.

IMHO

I`ve tried every GS(A) since my well missed 2005 GS and IMHO I can state that the new WC is waaaaaaaay ahead of all the previous ones, I really really don`t think you will be disappointed if you like speed, handling, balance and stopping quick. :thumb2

The KTM/ 11xx boys will be along shortly to tell you how rubbish the GS is :D

Don't post much about my bike in here, 2013 WC , 14000 mls since March last year, NO issues.

It does have the clunky 1st gear selection but the gearbox is getting sweeter as the miles rack up. (must be one of the few:D)

I had a K 1300 GT and I P/X it for a 2014 GS at the end of April, you will not not be disappointed I know the 1300 pulls like a spotty youth reading the daily sport, but the GS is so much more fun.
I have done 9000 miles on mine so far, and it still a joy to ride, get the gear shift pro thingy there addictive :thumb

Spent 4 hours on my 14 plate Gs wc this aft n the rain, its a cracking bike , no doom and gloom here. bloody quick she is too, properly quick, its got just enough poke to keep the interest.
