So has anyone gone from the 2016 gsa model to the 2017 and is there much difference at all please ?

I have a 2016 model and just done a deal on a 2017 as they did me an amazing deal at Marshall Grimsby and I wanted a red one when I got my blue one lol

tyia :beerjug::beerjug:

I have. The 2017 fuelling is much better as is the consistency of the gear change. They're they only significant differences I have noticed.

I did notice the gear change with the gear shift pro going up and down quick can sometimes not be exactly as it should be, little jumpy and not always engaging or it might just be me doing it too quick lol

thanks for your reply

The 2017 (EU4) models that we are talking about and which I now ride have a revised selector mechanism in the gearbox and a balancer on the output shaft (apparently). The change is better and the GSAP is smoother and can be used 1st - 2nd - 1st no problems.

If they update the GSA with the 2017 GS components at the end of this year i'll definitely change then, but its such a slight difference between the '16 & '17 models it doesn't seem worth it. Thats said, mine is corroding everywhere at the moment, so will see how thats resolved, otherwise i'm going back to the orange side...

Hi have a TB GS made nov 16 picked up Jan 17. It has most of the new stuff ABS pro, dyn ESA etc but not hill start. The gear change is silky smooth with the lever but not 1st & 2nd with GSAP. Its fine 2nd upover and going down.
Are the latest 2017 bikes different to this ?

thats one of the reasons I have done a deal with a new one, mine was an ex demo over winter and I would never buy another ex demo winter one

I have not ridden an "orange one" so I cant compare and I don't much like the look of them compared to the GSA

I took a R1200RS for a test drive today, and was surprised just how much smoother the new engine is; gsap was also much easier to shift. As an aside the RS has worse residuals, making it more expensive on pcp, so there is a £1000 dealer/BMW contribution.

I'm going to take a 2017 out this coming week before mine comes i think just to make sure lol

I'm swapping my 2016 for the exact same bike but a 2017 model

I changed from a ym 2016 TE GSA to a TB GSA collected on 1st March. As yet I see no improvement in the transmission. Strangely enough, I find the 2017 RS transmission to be much smoother on the gear change. Having said all that, I'm not that bothered, except perhaps at the possibility that I may wear out my left boot top before the up upchange gets a bit easier.

seems a bit more than that with the euro 4 emissions and the new upgraded gearbox system

i like my 2016 a lot but they did me an awesome deal that i couldn't say no to

Two mentions of an awesome deal means you have got to tell us in detail:D

There are 2 models for the 2017 GS/A: the outgoing Euro4 2017 and the new shape 2017. The outgoing E4 models had a new transmission, new dashboard, and OBD2 connector. The new shape 2017 model adds new plastics with revised ESA auto-levelling, dynamic ABS/traction control, and Hillstart control.

The outgoing Euro4 2017, which was produced from August 2016 and has all the gearbox mods, can be easily distinguished from the pre-August models which are cosmetically the same, but don't have the gearbox mods, by the fact that the Euro4 models have factory fitted reflectors on the fork legs to conform to the Euro4 regulations. I believe the instruments are also slightly different with a blue line on the dials.

So what are the main differences between the newer 2017 GS spec. and the current 2017 GSA if you don't mind me asking?

so they have different body plastics ?
is that in design or what please ?
I am going to see them tomorrow and see which model I am getting as I'm all confused.com now :rob

It's the normal GS that has new body work. The GSA has the same body work as previously, but Euro 4 spec (which applied to all GSAs from August 2016).
So it will look the same as your old one but with a less clunky gearbox and slower engine :D;)
