I totally disagree in declaring @boxerlust an idiot.
I do not in any way share his dream about 170hp GS, nor share his point of view when it comes to speeding the GS. But the guy is positive and he does not use curs-words, and he does not lower him self to name calling.
If anyone should be declared idiot, I would like to point the finger to the people in here that hijacks any thread and contribute by nothing but negative comments and name-calling. In my book that is as low as you can get in a debate and demonstrates clearly that there is no substance in the arguments. They only contribute to smear the debate with trolling.
Even if some BMW owners have had issues, the vast majority of GS owners have no issues with their bikes. Yes, I read forums and all the bashings that comes along, but I also know lots of people that owns GS, and they enjoy a problem-free ownership. Problems of any kind seem to be the exception rather than the rule...

And yes , the 1290SDR is a pile of shit if you plan to go fast...
Too much power for it's own good and very unstable at low speed and slow steering/not flickable at higher speeds...I don't know how J.McWilliams who obviously is one of their "ready to race" testriders could sign off on this one...But what I will say...the 1301 ccm V has STEAM between 7-10K rpm...for a twin ! But unfortunately wasted on wheelies if you go W.F.O. in gears 1,2,3,4....
And if the M1300GS gets only 160 hp I will be still happy with it...because even with the GS1250...THere is no other street-bike I rather ride...The best bike in the world for everything but the track where you obviously need more horsepower,more ground-clearance for lean-angle and 17" wheels for track suitable tires...!
The M1300GS as also R1300S could definitely solve these problems...

As someone that’s owned several GS’s and made the move to Ducati, I can say with confidence that if either is shite, it certainly isn’t the Ducati.

Nope , i have had a few , Multi 1200s nice but a bit shit , 916 ( bloody uncomfortable ) 999 ( nice and usable ) but blew it up , the M900 was great , well until the battery exploded , then i rode the new ones ... nothing changes unless you like to change you choice like a teenager on Asos .. but you are a bit fickle
