2020 KTM 1290 Superduke vs 2019 1250 GS-HP

One more thing about your analogy the R1100S troubling 1000 racereplicas...True on the street ! Same today on the street with the GS compared to a bike like a 1290SDR that is so superior on paper. But if the straights open up then game over...Therefore we need more power :thumb
And for people who don't need/want or get scared by it...Put it in ECO/Weenie mode...Problem solved and everyone is happy...:thumb2

Go on. Give it a go. Say less.

You have an opinion. We've heard it. Many, many times.

Sane people disagree, but you bang on again and again and again.

Which is quicker, a 1250GS or a 1290 SDR? I don't give a fuck. I've got neither. What I do know is that for long distance riding, my 1200GS is better and for local riding my 790 Duke is better. The reasons why I think this only really matter to me, but if anyone wants to know I'm happy to explain.

For now though, try your "less is more" approach, BL and spare us all from your broken record.

You’re wasting your time. He’s sat in his underpants in his one bedroom flat laughing his head off at everyone on here. If everyone ignores the pillock, he’ll get bored and move on.

Bristolsaint...If you don't give a fuck why do you bother to post ;)
If give you that that the 890 Duke could be a good bike since it is light (less than 200 kilos wet) and makes decent power for such a small twin without having to rev it like a 600 which gets old very soon...But unfortunately it is only a play-toy.If it had a frame mounted half fairing for some wind protection, some decent hard-bags / rack & a centerstand I might give it a try...But as it is it is pretty useless except for a few hours on a backroad.Too single minded and too pricey for that.I like my bikes more versatile except if you have a bike only for the track or going off road on single tracks or Moto-X parks...

I bother to post to express my boredom with your broken-record posts. I respect your single-mindedness but, please, give it a rest. We know what you want from BMW.

My 790 Duke is a play toy. Although I have done a 250 mile day on it, most rides are under 50 miles and if you ever rode west country roads you would see why a 790 Duke is better than a 1200 GS. It suits the narrow, high hedged lanes where top speed is never an issue and light weight helps enormously (which is where the lightweight Duke compensates for the not so lightweight Bristolsaint).

I'm getting fed up of the GSA. As good as it is, it is just as boring. But the missus likes the pillion seat and it tours really well. Gotta think about it. That 701 is still in the back of the mind or the 690 with the balancer shaft engine post 19 reg? I think. The LR making a good case for it but I'm more towards the rally kit offered by various companies to make it a GSA beater for one up touring and unpaved roads. It would suit me better being lighter and better for the unpaved bits I want to explore. With the kit about 20kg lighter fully fuelled than the Yamaha T7 empty weight and almost as much power. If only the missus would see reason to my argument :D

Do it. You know it makes sense.

This is what I'm talking about. Piccies courtesy Husky with a rally kit produced by themselves and Aurora (see below). The best is the ones that use the same parts as the produced by KTM/Husky and then adapt to their own needs for the big bike rallies which ensure you get a better quality design for touring. Not so sure about the carbon fibre tower for everyday use but the best I have seen is from Aurora or similar where the design is based on analysis in enduro conditions and adapted to suit. The tower can be unbolted on one side to have access to the wiring if you need to and no cutting/drilling of the frame and the warranty is preserved. But the screen is a bit more effort to take off with that kit. The FE450 rally kit Dakar style, similar to KTM, has a very quick way of getting the screen off without having to undo bolts. Better range than the GSA, lighter (about 100kg ) and a proper bike for all roads and all conditions in the right hands. Currently doing the research because I would like to keep it for a long while.

Before that I have to comply with Sadiq Khan's ULEZ shit. What a ball ache and postponement of a project in waiting.

Oh, that is nice, no very nice and I can see your logic. I hope the new engines are smoother than the old ones. I did 3,000 miles in a week on my 690 to get to Tibilsi, in Georgia before the fun began. It was bloody hard work even with a rally fairing and Renazco seat. As for removal of stuff, mines a RFR rally bike and I can get the fairing and both front tanks off in less than 5 minutes. The design is brilliant.

If only that Husky made 160 bhp

BDG... F.F.S. don't let Boxerlust know you have been to Georgia, he will think it's state capital is Atlanta, and start asking why you didn't call him, or berate you for not bringing Arsey with you. He's quiet for now !

That is a bike. Looked at what Lyndon did with his and other customer bikes. Bloody 'ell. Don't know what they are going for now but there are not many in the world. Get some pics up.

Boxerlust, this old man wants to spank your arse .
Wanna race ? :-)
