2023 1050 V Strom experiences please.

I still have a comfort seat for a DL1050 that I will let go for not much ££ and a very effective Givi screen with wind deflector; again it will be cheap.

I think KR has one ?
A friend has one and he’s had all manner of GS’s over the last 30 years and he really raves about his 1050 V Strom, for the last 2-3 years
Also the 800 DE seems a good bike too if you are solo riding
I have the 800de lovely bike.
Plenty of power👍

Just fitted SW Motech Dusc panniers and quick release rails to match top box I bought a while ago.
Great quality as always and the rails detach in 30 seconds when not in use .

Update to my original post - I just thought that as I'd started the post I should update it with what happened over the winter.

I took a 1050 DE out on an extended test ride soon after my original post in November 2024. I loved it. There wasn't a road going version to test ride anywhere near me but I was happy that it would fulfil all my needs. I found some absolute bargains on eBay and Autotrader.

I then looked at the 650. No test ride required as I was very familiar with this machine. I sourced an absolute mint 2024 with delivery mileage on for a fantastic price in Rotherham. I contacted the dealer and agreed a price.

I then looked at finding somewhere to store it. After a few false starts I found a place in Maidstone about 30 minutes away. £50 a month. Check.

I then phoned my insurers and all my problems began. Many very frustrated phone calls later, they would not insure the V Strom away from my address (Neither would anyone else). OK, thought I, if I really cleared out the garage I should be able to squeeze it in along with the 1250. £900 please said the insurers. For the 650 alone. I then went to the comparison sites for the 650. £1200 was the cheapest.

I know when I'm beaten.

Those DUSC look great. Do you take a pillion and what are their thoughts on the hinge placement, I haven’t seen a pad available for the top case. Cheers

@Cyber Back rests are available for the Dusc now, for the M / L / XL - Retail is £67.99 direct from Motech. I've just ordered a set of "L"'s with the Pro brackets for the Stelvio

I still have a touring comfort seat for a 1050. Much better than stock, all day comfortable.

I’ve done over 600 miles in last few days.
It’ll be well over 2000 by the time we get home.
The bike has been a revelation so far.
It’s very comfortable , fitted with just a Cool Covers on riders seat .
The riding position is perfect for me with seat on high position.
With screen up I can ride at 80 mph with open helmet . With the screen down it’s still fine but provides more airflow to cool me down . No buffeting in either position .
The handling is very planned and the suspension very compliant . Most of the roads here in Spain/Portugal are very smooth but we rode a couple of very bumpy roads yesterday and it was just fine.
The motor is fabulous-oh so smooth and no need to chase the redline as it has loads of midrange grunt.Quick shifter is buttery smooth too like all Suzukis.
I’m getting 59 mpg which equates to about 260 miles to empty on the 20 litre tank.
It’s shaping up to be one of the best adventure style bikes I’ve had.
