I lost interest in new BMW motorcycles since BMW decided to stop selling service manuals.

Thank you for your feedback, duly noted. :duck:

Just my opinion, but F900 GS looks much better compared to the other two.

The 900GS looks a weapon, quality fully adjustable suspension, shed a load of weight, Akra standard, anyone know price?

Black Storm version with no options is showing £11,995 on the Motorrad Configurator the GS Trophy colour scheme adds £450

The BMW F900GS will cost £11,995 rising to £12,350 for the GS Adventure. The lower powered F800GS will cost £9995.

Those will be base model prices - add another couple of £k for packs and luggage and you'll be north of £15k for a 900 Adventure.

Dont buya KTM then, you dont even get a paper owners manual or service record. 👍

Looks good and 105bhp.
Certainly a good alternative for those looking for something lighter, cheaper and very capable.

Could be tempted subject to a test ride

The F900GSA is too heavy at 246Kg against the R1250GS at 249Kg (both wet) as per the Motorrad site. Other than for price when new and insurance costs, then what are the benefits?

Eh, BMW Motorrad site suggests 219kg fuelled and ready to go

So the F900GS is pretty much the 1200GS (pre water cooled) from a decade ago . Identical bhp at 105, less torque but also 10 kgs lighter . Why spend another £6-8k on a new 1300 ???

I agree would not spend the extra, but I want my BMW to have a boxer engine with horizontally opposed cylinder heads. Same reason you buy a Guzzi or a Porsche.

IMO no point in buying a BMW without a boxer as there seem to be better bikes at lesser money.

The basic 900gs does look good though, I think plastic tank gives it the biggest weight saving

Apologies to the collective, fell has forgotten to mention Subaru.

I rode the F900XR and it's an okay bike. I prefer my 2016 R1200RS as I like the boxer engine and the shaft drive.

When the RS gets a bit older I might look at bikes in that price range but I don't think the BMW parallel twins will be on top of the list if I am going to have a chain driven bike. It is more likely to be Japanese.

Feckit,
I've ordered a new F850GS that I'll be lucky to see before Xmas.... grrrrrr

If I'd known this was coming I might have waited.

Isn't capacity-creep a strange thing?

The modern R series GS (ignoring airheads) has crept from 1100cc in 50cc increments to soon be 1300cc. That leaves space behind it for the middleweight to similarly creep up, now being a 900cc middleweight... some of us remember a 900cc bike being a superbike.

Will BM have to back-fill the widening gap between the 310cc bikes and the next biggest, currently 850cc?

So it appears that production of the F850GS that I ordered has been discontinued. The new F900GS does not appear to have been designed with a pillion (or even a topbox) in mind, and does not appeal to me for those reasons. However, I'm of the opinion that both the outgoing F850GSA and the incoming F900GSA have the same dimensions and therefore may not fit in my gate. (At least without a struggle and scratches). Can anyone here confirm the actual width of a 850GSA (at its widest point on the fairing/engine bars.. not the handlebars).

Thanx like...
(It's a Cork thing...)
