I feel like I should have faffed more, fitting my Barkbusters . Damn

If the banjo bolt, as positioned by the factory, is at a slightly different angle (as it was on my chum’s when I did his) the line up is very straightforward. If it isn’t it’s a very tight fit or no fit at all. It’s only a couple of millimetres but if it’s a couple of mill out, the angle’s wrong, multiplying along the length of the aluminium supporting bar.





I was about to move the banjo bolt, when a little bit of jiggling gave me just enough room. I might yet move it anyway.

There are no instructions in the kit. You have to view them online. Folk should download them and read them carefully before beginning the job. I didn't and relied on a quick skim through on my phone. I didn't notice the point about lining up the "handed markers" on the handlebar clamps. Hey ho ...

Just looked on GP motorcycles website and the Kamet grey is £6000 whilst the Slate Poppy blue is £4000 - I know the Kamet is tubeless but can anyone tell me what the other differences are for £2000

good luck, I don't think you will be disappointed with the 450, its a little belter.

All I can say is for that deal why not give it a go for6 months, if you then find it’s not got you then move it on and start over. Verity is your spice of life.

To assist Posh Pete and anyone else, here is the right hand (throttle side) complete.

Note:

A. There might be very little room around the brake pipe / banjo bolt. I had to do a fair amount of jiggling to get the Barkbuster handlebar clamp into near enough the right position.

B. At the bar weight end, there is a fair old gap, which has to be closed by tightening-up with the bolt. I put a bit of copper slip onto the bolt’s thread to encourage the thread to bite.

Be careful not to over tighten and restrict the free movement of the throttle.

C. Put the plastic hand guards onto the aluminium carrier, before assembly. It is then much easier to tighten the two internal retaining screws. I forgot to do this! I then took the carrier off again.

Having fitted a few sets of Barkbusters to various bikes over the last 20 years, I now prefer Enduro Engineering or Cycra hand guards

The bike specific kit for the early Tenere 700’s from Barkbusters was abysmal and didn’t fit properly - until they were told and then surprisingly offered redesigned inboard mounts

Enduro Engineering guards fit so much better to the bikes they are designed to fit, literally a 10 minute job to fit and better design too
