For all the self imposed crap that KTM are going through at the moment this could be a real star of 2025 in their line up in the small adventure bike category.

Looks like there will be several models, with the Enduro R being the most off-road focussed and lighter than the Adventure R version.

If it lives up to expectations, I quite fancy one.

Yep, like the look of it.

I've ordered a CF Moto MT450 to replace the Honda 300 Rally for off road TET stuff. It won't come until May so there's time to check one of these out. It might end up being a the better bike. Small capacity bikes can be more fun to ride and I suspect this might be true of this one.

Any idea what the weight is? Seems it's one of the only things about the MT450 people aren't sure of, although they say the MT loses the weight feel on the move.

Suzuki upsetting the apple cart now with new DRZ400S, similar weight to CRF250/300 but way more grunt / power, if they price it right the sames of CRF / 390 ADVs will plummet

You're not wrong. 😂

On the up side at least we're now getting some choice. The MT450 on order now looks like it has some rivals in the camp. I guess that's a good thing. There's a queue of orders for the MT which I think looks great, is a twin, makes a great noise and is great value - especially compared to the Honda Rally which currently owes me around £8k after proper suspension got sorted.

When I looked at the 300 Rally, I priced a KTM EXC500 and it was £10k pretty much, as a bare bike. Completely ridiculous. I can't see the 390 costing much less to be honest, mainly because KTM need the cash right now and they'll believe in all the shouting out loud that's been happening in the press and EICMA. Fair enough, but time will tell. One thing for sure is that the dealers will all say the same thing - "better get your order in because we're only being allocated 3 bikes and two have already gone" then by August every dealer will have some sitting there unsold, and then in October they'll knock £1000 off and throw in heated grips.

Off to swallow my anti-cynicism pill. :censored::coffee:

It’s true though

Place I deliver for had six MT450’s arrive yesterday. All sold unseen. About time there was some competition in that sector and a DRZ appeals to me

It's great news so many manufacturers are now making useable smaller capacity bikes at last.
I'm still loving my 300 Rally but if I didn't have it I would be looking at either the KTM 390 or BMW F450.

Well if this is £5700 I'll eat my hat first. Then I'll cancel the MT450 and get one of these without any hesitation.

yea thats really nice ,especially for £5700. I too doubt it will be that cheap. Bit competition for the voges , himmys, CF motos etc.
Lets see what price it eventually comes in at.

Well, I've taken the plunge and put a deposit on one.

I have the MT450 on order which I'll keep on order for now, but unless they blow this up with a high price tag I'm sure it'll be the better bike. I promised myself I wouldn't be an early test rider again, but I think this bike will be worth it and it looked great at the show. The 390 engine has been around for ages and KTM know what to do with the rest of the bike. The suspension will likely be tuneable out of the box with a suspension guru - I don't know about the MT and it's reported to be not too plush. Electronics? Who knows but hopefully that just get adopted from the current 390, so hopefully free of glitches.

Sure KTM will get some out to testers in a bit and we can read how incredible they are. :D

The one thing that would be nice to see is weight (and cost obviously). If they can keep the weight to sub 170kg (the Duke is 154 so should be possible) then I think it will be pretty unique.

Chris Northover in his Eicma review says circa 185kg 'wet'. It's not ideal to be honest however it looks like cruise control will be on it - not sure how much that gubbins will weigh - but CC is a welcome addition to a bike that will travel.

In 2019 I bought a 790 Adv R for trails/TET. Sold it a couple of years ago or more. I never got to do TET Spain which was the plan, mainly because of Covid, but with hindsight I'm glad I didn't take it. At circa 203kg wet without luggage I would've struggled. By the time I'd have picked that up by myself a few times I'd have been shot. YT has loads of videos of guys with Tenere types who struggled, even with a riding mate, to keep picking the bikes up. And no question about it, the larger the bike you take there, the more you will be lifting it out of ruts, hedges and steep inclines. Longwinded way of saying that I'm glad I took the Honda 300 Rally. So capable and benign. 75% of the times I dropped it was because I put my foot down when stopping only to find the ground was lower than I was expecting. It happens when you do hour after hour of trails and get tired 🤪 At those times even the Rally started to get heavy and late afternoon a couple of times I had to unload the luggage first. The Rally is claimed 153kg wet - mine definitely isn't. By the time you add bars/bashplate/rugged tyres/toothbrush holder bla bla, I bet its more like 160/165kg or more wet. So if the KTM is 185kg that's a lot more. I hope it ends up weighing less, but I can't see it being around 150kg's like the duke. Time will tell.

Yes too heavy IMO if it is not significantly less than the weight of the current 390 Adventure at circa 172 KG.

KTM can do it as my 701 is supposed to be around 155 KG wet and that's still more than heavy enough to have to pick up!

Problem of course is lower weight equals higher cost
