2025 KTM 390 Adventure

Great news @Apex (y)

How on earth do people carry these things about with them when trail riding, they aren't even UHD, just reinforced.

Front 21” one in front fender bag, with 3 tyre levers, some gloop and spare valves and removal tool, plus mini trail bead buddy

Rear 18 ….if I am feeling lucky in a Giant Loop or Wolfman mini enduro tank bag or Kriega RB 20 ruck sack

MTB bicycle pump across bars cross bar or mini compressor in ruck sack

Mousses would be easier 🙈

I know...I know. I'll stop now.

MT21 and D606 - the stuff I rode over on Spanish TET and was fine....unbelievable. Some sections were so rocky, such sharp rocks too, no problems. However, I did fit the innertube 'gloop' as a precautionary for small punctures. More weight but it helps with wheel balance when on the move.

Dry rocks fine on MT21
Wet rocks …totally different proposition

You could take standard tubes that are much less bulky, or even just take one 21" that will go in either wheel in an emergency.
I used heavy duty for TET. Then goopy inside. Then took a 21" standard as a backup as you suggested. Probably overkill but when you're by yourself.... Six days riding some very quiet trails I met 3 bikers the whole time.

So standard are a lot less bulky, thanks I'll get another 21".

Looks like there is another recall related to wheel spacers being 1mm narrower than required, this has been changed at the factory but they want to check all bikes have been updated before they are released. They lock the bikes software, so they cant release any of the bikes until they have proved to KTM that the recall has been completed. I've waited a while for this bike, so another few days doesnt bother me, but nevertheless excited to get it.

I did pop over to Judd Racing to sit on the bike and make brrrm brrrm noises as hadn't sat on one until today, and was surprised how tall it is, I can't quite flatfoot it and I'm 6' on a good day with 32" inside leg. Feels SO light though compared to my last bike.

My aim is to use this for touring as well as trails, but the jury is out on whether it will suit for that due to the smaller and slightly buzzy engine, if it can't I may then get a garage companion for it (I'll probably just get another Tiger 900).

Top 4 quotes, fully comp, garaged, shotgun, big dog. Tricky one because I don't want to swap the Honda onto the KTM until I know it's for me. Hmmm.

Don't know if KTM offer 7 days free cover or something. Will find out.

Bikesure could get stuffed straight away for that compulsory excess!

I went for the Hastings cheapo option, still £100 more than Apex was quoted with a £550 excess, although I have put an estimated 10K miles on it.

I think you get two weeks grace on a new policy where you can cancel the policy for a full refund. You don’t mention NCD but if there isn’t much no claims discount to worry about then take out a completely new policy and use this refund facility to your advantage if you don’t like the 390.

Yes, my policy wording says I can cancel it within 14 days (y) , there is something like a £20 admin charge in that event.

Good thought young man! That's why they pay you thee big bucks. :)

New bike day.

Quite poor throttle response from cold. Once warmed up it was fine. Offroad throttle is snappier. It just has rain/street/offroad. Why they haven't offered you the offroad throttle map in street mode I've no idea. So offroad mode it is.

Only been round the block but already have a good feeling. Way more go than the Honda. Thats not to say I have a huge issue with the Honda's performance though.

The quickshifter is brilliant! Thats going to be fab on trails. Lights are stupid good. She feels nimble and lightweight. Very quiet too - i'm past caring about a loud bike when doing trail riding. Quiet is good and public friendly these days.

TFT is small but a huge upgrade over the Honda. The clutch is light.

More to follow. So far so good. Apparently this years stock is sold. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Had a good look over the 390 Enduro R today
Not sure where it’s aimed
For a similar weight I would choose a 690 Enduro R, double the power and better components
390 with underslung exhaust ???
Even the salesman said as at a loss to explain the logic of it

I think the low exhaust is a great idea personally. There's lots of ground clearance anyway and it just makes fitting rack bags so much less hassle. I don't plan on doing any major river crossings so it'll be fine for me. The bit I don't like is the location of the O2 sensor. Looks very vulnerable until a decent bash plate gets fitted.
