Filled up yesterday in Villach, Austria. Next fill was today in Starigrad, Croatia. A total of 257 miles on one tank. I’m impressed with that mileage considering I’m, ahem, a little on the heavy side and a full set of luggage. Result :clap

GSA some say you can get 300 to 350 miles on a full tank, that is really good 257 miles heavy and loaded.

Sounds optimistic, did you put it in neutral on the downhills?
My 14 R1200GSA on a tour loaded 2 up 420km

I've not seen 200 before the countdown is in single figures - that with me and a top box onboard. Trips say 46mpg.

Good going Steve,
I thought it was just my gs, it will do 240 plus without a worry mixed riding, even full luggage,
It has been hilltopped and de cat pipes, rarely goes below 50 mpg,

It was mainly on twisties at moderate speeds with only a small amount of fast roads.

When touring in Europe, I always fill with 98 octane, not a lot of price difference, and always see a huge improvement in tank range, though I think the warmer climate has a lot to do with it...

ICE run better in cooler temperatures!

If the mileage is taken from the bike odometer, remember that it will be the same level of optimism as your speedo.

When I got the new 16 GSA the fuel economy was terrible for the first few thousand KM. On a fast solo run down to Andelucia.
I checked full tank to full tank a few times and it was 26mpg.
For some reason after a 5000KM the economy jumped up.

I’m not jealous of the MPG I’m just jealous of where you did it!

Agreed. However my mate is riding an mt900 tracer and that consistently gives a greater mileage reading by 10 more miles. Go figure.

Not sure that is necessarily true. The speedo is deliberately made to over read so as to ensure that your speed is never under reported, but I think the bike does accurately measure distance. When I hooked up an ODBII port driven speedo gadget which effectively takes speed data from the bike's ECU, it read lower than the bike speedo and more or less the same as my Satnav GPS speed measurement, which I take as supporting evidence that the bike is accurately measurng speed/distance, and so there is no reason why the odometer should be wrong.

I've just completed a trip to and around Andalusia on my GS doing about 2400 miles in total. Touring while there was two-up with luggage, trips from Santander to Seville and back via Bilboa were solo with luggage as my wife does fly/ride to avoid the boring bits and the ferry, so she flew into/out of Seville! I got a worst of 38 mpg and best of 48 mpg.

I always brim the tank and record the litres and odometer reading on the receipt so that I can enter the details into my mpg spreadsheet when I get back. Sad, but true, this means I have a complete record of fuel consumption since I bought the bike in March 2017, and my average over the 8996 miles covered so far is 46 mpg. I had quite a few 50+ mpg fill ups in the first few months, but the trend has been downwards - seems I've been making more use of the performance over time!
