Hi all,

booked my newly purchased 1200gs for a 48k mile service with Brian in Pembury. He says it's "the big one" - costs £400, and he says the bike will come out "as good as new".

I dont seem able to find a definitive service schedule on the net. So would be grateful for any info on what I should expect to be done to the bike, and what's the big deal with this particular service.

Thanks!

Morning just caught up with your inquiry and wondered if the Haynes manual gave service schedules as I bought one on a 04 plate with 41k and was wondering when and what was the next service entailed

IIRC it's a full service plus belt plus bleed through all brake circuits (assuming by your mileage that your bike is old enough to have servos?).

Sadly, £400 doesn't sound far wrong for a MBW dealer but a bit OTT for an indi?

Have you considered doing some/all of the service yourself?

Andres

Cheaper to service a Porsche 930 turbo.
Feckin daft money to service a bike that.

Thanks bloody expensive old game this service carry on I will be looking for an independent to carry out all my work will check the net to see if there are any BMW minded mechanics in the High Wycombe area

Thanks everyone for your help. I am told Brian in Pembury is a good, solid guy who can be trusted. I'll try and haggle a bit tomorrow, but I don't think there's much wiggle room.

You would be well advised to go down to Steptoe's in West London:thumby: One of the very best GS men out there.

Just had a 12k service done at BMW dealer, cost a pint short of £400 . Got overnight accomodation included though.

Service

Have a little trip and see Steppers, aint that far and he'l sort it all.

Overnight stay for a service? Mine is due 12k and mot next week. Better look out the fat wallet then:eek:

Not so much for the service, just so that they can have the bike ready to start on at 8. Handy to travel down the night before as it's a bit over 2 hours for me.
