Hi all, my bike app says its due service in April, bike only done 3000 miles (got with 600 miles in September) what's best option? Buy a plan? Just get 6000 service done? Not had a new bike before, all kine have 10yrs plus.

Dine search and reading all different stuff, some say packnis good others say not, some say only done on mileage. Some say time and miles, which ever 1st.

Any thought really appreciated.

^^^^I purchased a service plan after the 6000 mile service. saved at the time around £200 over the 3 services plus is inflation proof. You must talk to the service agent, if you don't do the milage and it's only a annual service, not everything needs doing.

I see that the cost of service plan has gone up massively, paid £900 (3 years) for mine, missed out on the £750 for 3 years by few days:oops:

5 years/ 30,000 miles

If you're doing less than 6k a year then the service plan might actually be more expensive as the service schedule is every year or 6k miles which ever comes 1st and the bigger services are done on milage, not time.
That could mean on the service plan you could end up paying for the bigger service, when a minor would have been sufficient.

When was the 600 mile service done? My dealer has always reset the service indicator when that 1st service was done so the next service is due 12 months or 6k miles after then, not 12 months after the bike was registered. I've had this happen across 4 LC boxers by 2 different dealers.

I'd sit down, estimate my milage over the life of the service plan you're considering, then work out what services you'll need based on the matrix in the handbook, get a price for each one from your dealer then compare the prices to see which is best for you.

As an example if you think you'll do 4k a year then you wouldn't need the 12k service until year 3, with years 1 & 2 being just minors20260313_221553.jpg

That's a very valid point, after 600 service it should be reset to 12 months or 6000mile which ever comes first. I'm going to dealer today so will be thrashing that one out.
