I have now covered just over a 1200 miles since I bought my RTWC LE: the bike has covered 3600 miles in total. I have been on it in France this weekend. Some more thoughts:
* much more comfortable seat, riding position an reduced wind noise & buffeting than my 2013 RT. The standard screen has more than enough height (I am a shade under 6ft) and the standard seat is fine for 150 miles, but not more....
* I was getting 59mpg average for the trip, whereas I rarely saw more than 50mpg on the old bike.
* as per other threads on here, neutral is hard to select especially when stationary, and the gear assist rider pro system doesn't work so well going from 1st to 2nd but works well between all other gears, going both ways. This feature is growing in me, but I would say probably a feature you could save your money on and not really miss.
* the new bike handles, goes and stops brilliantly, and I would say is one of the best all round bikes I have ridden, and I used to award that accolade to my Honda VFR 800.
* the bike feels bigger and slightly heavier than the old RT and definitely bigger than my 1150RT but I have got used to it.
* the wing mirrors are a huge improvement on the previous bikes and you can actually see cars behind you, not just your elbows.
* central locking and interior light inside the top box - how did I live without these features?
I am sure the purests will huff and puff but being able to lock the bike with one press of the fob saves loads of hassle.
* the BMW Nav 5 works well but is hard to read if the sun is behind you - it needs the ability to slightly alter the mounting angle. Also, why didn't BMW make the mount lockable? My mate on his GSA just leaves it locked in the mount for brief stops, fuel etc.
Overall, delighted with my bike. Well worth the expensive "unscheduled upgrade" (aka getting knocked off and bike written off by a right turner in Milton Keynes) from the 2013 RT model (which I never got rid of the smell of hot oil).
Puggy
