I disagree 3rd gear on my 1200 is very nice.
1st - is so, so.
I use 4th when I want to give my favorite 3rd a rest.
2nd, 5th and 6th are a bit crap to be honest.

I asked for this didn't I.......
I'm afraid so.

Answer this, on your previous bikes with 5 gears did you a) shift when it felt right and would vary depending on the style of riding, ie whether you were taking it steady or giving it the beans, or b) at a particular speed or RPM every time?

If you answered b may I suggest you ditch the whole idea of riding a bike and buy a twist and go Scooter :thumb

6th gear question

Leave him alone, you miserable gits. He's entitled to ask if he wants....just ignore the thread if it offends you. Stop being so angry!

To be fair I don't think anyone's being angry, just a bit of friendly mickey taking. From previous threads Joe is quite happy to join in with this so I'm sure no offense will be taken :thumb2

No, 6th is certainly not a gear you'll get a lot of acceleration from (Unless of course you're trying to get max speed out of the bike). Other than that it's really just a cruising gear to improve economy and reduce RPM.

It'll probably pull harder in 6th if you have a low viscosity oil; what oil are you using ?

Don't be afraid to ask. :augie

Nah I don't give a crap, if it was somebody else I'd be doing that same lol

I heard touratwat are developing an optional 7th gear package- with the option for an extra £250 to have it in Triple Blerk colouring...

I met some guys in Norway(Norweigians) and they were telling me their 'Maur Sluker' 1200's only had five gears.......!:nenau

The speed limit was 80/90kph and they didn't ever need a sixth gear........!

Now, I quite like 5th gear but on the other hand I also like 6th, but which is best?

There's only one way to find out!!!

FIGHT!!!!!
