Can anyone give me real world consumption figures please for the 800GS Adventure with luggage? Im hearing of all sorts of figures and none seem to be consistent with what BMW are claiming.

PM "Mickey". He's done 100k on his. I think the answer will be along the lines of "owt between 30 mpg and 70 mpg" depending on conditions.

Try looking at fuelly, it's a website where people post mpg stats. A google search should bring it up.

As said it varies, for general everyday riding with and without luggage I work on the tripometer, at 180 I start looking for my next fuel stop at 200 I seriously need to pay attention and find some fuel. Unless of course out in the wilds where I start looking a little earlier.

Every 200 miles or so, Mick puts in 5l less than us on 1150 or 1200 GSA on a trip

I played that game for a while.

Amazing bods that my bike used less fuel..... I simply put in a few litres less than I might have done. ;)

One pillar of my god like status chopped down :D

PS It's a reasonably reliable rule of thumb that most bikes will average about 10 miles per litre. Apologies for the mixed units. It's also a rough rule of thumb that more than a few bods have no idea how large their tank is, nor any real clue has to how far their bike will go. Many underestimate the distance by a significant degree.

I have an F700GS and ride it quite hard as i have to follow a street triple R.
I get 200 miles per tank and ride mostly in 3rd and 4th gear in the last quarter of the rev range.
Never tried riding it sensibly as yet but dont think it will do much more, the furthest i have gone with the fuel light on is 22 miles, and that made me sweat.

Did a 2 up tour of France in May with full luggage with a group of larger bikes, lots of high speed work and twisty bits, was getting an avarage of 61mpg.

No knowledge of the 800Adventure but my '08 800GS gives me 55 - 60 mpg commuting into central London and I was getting 65 - 70 mpg last year on a trip up to Orkney with all the boxes (H&B Xplorer) loaded and SWMBO on the pillion.
Hope that helps

My 800 adventure says 58 mpg on the computer thing.
That has been motorway work 2 up and sometimes with luggage.

I work on 300 miles per tank.

I have panniers fitted all the time, and I'm a hefty 17stone.

My 2011 F800GS will do between 140 and 165 miles before the fuel light comes on, room for 12L of fuel giving me around 55-58 mpg.

I vary between commute to work, autoroute at 80mph, dirt track and twisty mountain roads with or without two full panniers and a tent strapped on, and the economy doesn't vary too much from this.

What they say :thumb

The fuel consumption of the F800GS is as good as it gets short of getting a Honda 90 :thumb

If you have to work it out to the nth degree then best pack up motorcycling :nenau

Fuel consumption on this bike is great, I commute into London from Hertfordshire, A1 to A406 and it averages around 62 mpg, back in May I spent 10 days riding the Picos De Europe and it never fell below 58 mpg :thumb

My 30th Anniveresay model has averaged over 60mpg for 12,500 miles according to the trip computer., and backed up by my own figures.
I went from York over to Bury on Saturday morning on an errand. At an indicated 80mph on the M62, it was showing 51-52mpg on the computer. At 70mph it was doing about 60mpg.
Best I ever got was three tankfulls at average 72-74mpg whilst touring in Germany, and the worst was 46mpg for a tankfull after holding it at 6,000 in top for two hours (c.95-ish) on a French motorway.
You’ve got to cane it to get much below 50mpg.
It must be the best engine economy-wise for any big bike.

Should be no surprise that the adventure has the same consumption, they're the same engine just a bit more weight but no more than the difference between taking a bit more kit one day than the next, or a bit more spirited ride one day than the other.

80kph ~3.75L/100KM (75mpg)
120kph ~5L/100KM (56mpg)
160kph ~8.5L/100km (30mpg)

I've just clocked 7k on my F8GSA
I've had anything from 260 miles to 350 miles fully loaded

It runs sweetly on open roads at ~60mph to get 350 miles
If your stuck in traffic, being enthusiastic on the twisties, etc. it easily comes down to 260 miles
My norm is 300 miles for ~22 litres
