Hi All,
I've just had a new clutch, Neutral switch and rear disc fitted to my 850GS.
It might be a coincidence, but as soon as I got the bike back, the choke doesn't work.
I got them to check cable and as the bike was hot when I got to the dealer, everything appeared fine.
This afternoon, as the bike had been stood for a couple of hours ie cold engine; no choke.
I assume then, this is electrical.
If I hold the choke fully on, I just get about 1100rpm; the engine justttttt starts!!!
Any suggestions? Is it one of the sensors, is a multi plug undone, is there a reset, if I stand on one leg with my fingers crossed, will that help?
Any help appreciated.
John:)

I thought the choke, only increased revs, so as not to stall in cold weather, mines a 1150 though, but I never use the choke and it starts easly enough :nenau

Notorious problem.

The "choke" cable is known for adjustment problems.

The good thing is that it isn't a choke in the normal sense, it's just a fast idle for cold starting (it does not affect the mixture).

You can re-adjust it but it's a pig of a job (owing to the position of the cable inside the splitter-box, under the battery tray) and they soon need re-adjusting (owing to the crap design).

Ignore it. Just open the throttle when starting and keep it open manually. Once the bike is running it soon gets to the point where the fast idle is redundant anyway.
