Hi all.

I've taken the plunge and I'm stripping and rebuilding my GS, Judith, from the ground up. There will be a new colour scheme and heaps of new parts.

So I'm stripping her down, labeling the bits and going through everything; cleaning and preparing them for the new paintjob.
As the project progresses, I'll post the photos up here.

So, here goes.

Judith on a lovely sunny day in Summer 2009 - On the Kingswear Ferry - Dartmouth.

great start look forward to reading more. How did you clean the carbs?:thumb

Cheers. :)

I started out by stuffing the Ports with newspaper - then gave them a good spray with this stuff:

After wiping the gunk and grease off with a rag, I soaked them in carb-cleaner.
After that, it was a case of cleaning and greasing the throttle and choke assemblies, replacing the gaskets - then fitting the new internals.

Finally a nice polish with a bit of Brasso. :thumb2

Time for a couple more long-awaited photos!

Today I got the frame and some other bits and pieces back from the Powder-Coaters.
£200 got me a full strip down of the frame and all of the other parts; (removing the old powder), all the necessary prep and a full coat of blue Powder. The new 'Kalahari' colour scheme is really taking shape!

Apologies for the parts still being wrapped in plastic, but I'm leaving her this way until the re-assembly commences tomorrow :thumb

Thank feck for that. I thought it was going to be another GS in bits in a shed somewhere.

£200 for powder coating  I've just had more stuff than that done for £130.

It certainly is. I've been visiting all of the Posts (existing and demolished) in Devon and Cornwall. I've been photographing each and documenting them for a book I'm compiling.

I got it done in less than 24 hours - So IMHO it was a pretty good price ;)
