A new project looms

I have an old 100/7 tucked away in the garage. it's a 78 with 216,000 miles on her, runs like a dream. Lovely thing to ride and worth diddly squat so I may has well have some fun with it.

I'm not one for the Cafe racer trend at the minute so fancy a cool roadster.

Spoke wheels, brembo front end, RS bevel box. Doesn't need anything other than cosmetics:-

Open to suggestions on styling/colour schemes. what do you reckon?

Cut down bobber type roadster would be super cool. Not a full on bobber, but kind of a mix between cafe racer and bobber.

Short mudguards, single seat, older style tank and chopped down rear subframe.

Key would be not to change the riding position too much so it still rides the same

Ooooooh yeah Roberto, that's the puppy. Non of the silly handlebar shite that the Harley boys do.

You have to go you'r own route. I get the hardtail, but nothing to stop you kicking it out with a soft tail version I suppose the advantage in term of aesthetics is losing the rear shocks which are a little bit too upright as standard. I wonder if you could still use the shocks but mount them more laid down allowing you to almost remove the need for a subframe?

Probably the GS trend is waining a touch after a few years of stupid pricing ... peeps seem to be into cutting up an old nail of an RT or RS ( not a bad thing as the proper examples will hold their price ) and trying to make a profit ( men after my own heart )

Probably easiest to cobble up something on photoshop that you can post pictures off for the titivation of those who enjoy looking at them, and leave the nice old dear as she is.

Cheaper too.

Always puzzles me why people got to all that trouble to build a bike this cant legally be be ridden on the road, or have your friendly British bobbies stopped acting like fascist pigs who are above the law, sorry , enforcing the construction and use regulations?

If you must do something I think the dark green metallic that Jaguar used a few years back, aubergine or something, would be a great colour, with a pinstripe the same colour as the Jaguar cream/tan leather upholstery.

Then I would concentrate on minimalism, subtly and good taste - a slightly shortened front guard, subtly reshaped seat, slimmer peashooter silencers , pod filters and dummy airbox, ride height adjustments,etc, and I agree that thing like wire wheels and changing angle of the shocks would look good too.

The idea is to have people who know wondering what you have done to it to make it look so much better than stock, and those who dont complimenting you on a beautifully maintained old bike.

Many, many years ago one of those went up in flames outside a Pub in Leicestershire. Within 5 minutes there was nothing left but a very charred chassis. Very scary.

To be honest I can't see much point at throwing massive amounts of cash at the 100/7. It is a nice bike though.

This is nice - Le Mans Fairing, Corbin seat. I do want to avoid resets and clip ons though.

I reckon you are on the right track with this one Rob. Stylish with good lines and an inexpensive creation.

The street scramblers look a bit "gutted" to me, like a half finished project.
