A Trip…

That looks to be a lovely section, just followed the Google maps car along it, definitely my kind of road!

I came across only two cars on the whole length of it… great. Apart from the fact that one was a Police Car driving slowly in front of me.
Foreign Cop Cars don’t count right?

Wrong! 😊
I overtook them (not breaking the speed limit) but crossing what I thought was a broken white line.
Wrong again.. but it was really faded out.
Honesty.. Officer.
I pleaded innocence and they let me go.🙏
I was near the end of the N221 so turned around so as not to confront them again a second time and did the route again in reverse.
Happy Days!

I spent so long mooching romantically on the N221 that time was getting on and I forgot that I would lose an hour going back into Spain…
After booking a hotel in Salamanca.. D’oh 😬
Never mind I got there just before sunset.

The N221 along the Douro valley to Barca da Alva is my favourite road in the world, not a "fast" road in the sense that there is a hairpin bend every 300 yards for many many miles but so technical and just good fun

I have banged on about it for years so I am glad you finally rode it

Thanks to you Rick.
I found it such good fun on the GS.
Slow in to each hairpin then give it some beans on the exit.
For mile after empty mile.
Rinse and repeat.
Big smiles. 🙏
