A week's Adventure in SA...........

Only a pleasure........ and really chaps - if there's any of you wanting some tips or contacts - WITHOUT all the crap that some of the tour operators here dish out......... I'll do my best to help......... maybe even load the bike and join you!

The countryside is beautiful, dirt roads fantastic............. we have over 500,000kms of roads in South Africa and ONLY 12% has been tarred. That means that 90% of the numpties don't even see SA, when they are all too busy scurrying from A to B on tar........... part of the trip we did - we did not see another vehicle for 3 to 4 hours.

It's a pleasure riding these roads....

Riding along the fence of the Kruger National Park is one of the most awesome routes we like to do regularly. Awesome gravel roads and we get to see some of the big five guaranteed on every ride we take.

Only in SA guys...

Wow.... Goose I insist you do more of these. I so enjoyed reading this, thank you for sharing.

Must be fantastic having all that blue sky and scenery to ride through :Motomartin

Thanks for the report Goose ..... an excellent read :thumb2

Arse.

I've never been remotely interested in visiting S.A. despite a lot of badgering from a friend who also frequents this forum.

Having read your RR I've now got another place added to my 'must do' list. Great RR & pics, thanx for posting. :thumb2

Hey Goose that was a fantastic RR. You have just promoted riding a GS in SA to my wife!

We've got a few spare Days in Cape Town on 26/27/28 April.. Obviously we want pack as much into the 3 days as possible..are there any "day trips" on a hired bike you would recommend.?

Happy to discuss any possibilities.

Cheers

Dave.

Homesick indeed !! Thanks. hey Mark Beetge !!..long time no hear !!!!

I did some riding around CPT on a rental a few years ago, plus the off road school at Country Trax Klipbokkop...awesome. I also did a ride from CPT all the way to Springbok via Langebaan and then a circle route back via Swellendam. Homesick indeed

Dave - where will you be staying...... there's lots of day trips here with amazing scenery indeed. It also depends on what type of mileage you want to do or how rushed you would be? Do you want a bike & trip for just one day - or would you need one for the 3 days to allow you 3 different trips?

Send me a PM with your email address and I'll see whether I can help :thumb

Small world indeed!!!

Will send this link to Mark Beetge and see whether he can respond!

I'm hoping to do some more riding with Mark in the very near future.... :thumb

Country Trax - nice place - also did my courses there in the late 2009 early 2010.......... instilled serious respect for the GSA and it's capabilities if properly ridden. :thumb

Now you just have to come back for another ride-holiday ............. or perhaps organise one through the Alps to entice us to come over there...!

Great read Goose, a pleasure to read, and glad everyone had a fab time. This venue has just gone up a few notches on my "must bike" list.
