I had the misfortune to breakdown whilst using my 1952 AJS 500, with a broken throttle cable. The AA patrolman duly turned up 20 minutes after my call and I queried where the motorcycle trailer was, as he would not carry a spare cable. He then took off the twistgrip, found a small piece of drilled brass in his toolbox and soldered this on the cable. As we were a bit unsure how secure the soldered joint would be, he followed me home (about 10 miles) to make sure all was good. Pretty good service I think.
