Hi guys

I am sure there are many topics about my issue here but i just want to get some idea roughly what it might be , the issue on my abs .

The bike is 2002 1150 gsa , recently abs lights keep flashing alternately after moving off.everything seems normal at start up. Ignition on , abs lights come on and flashing alternataley as well as others. I checked the fluids , seems all good and full. I am not sure about the battery as the bike very new to me however the battery have been charged all the time from the old owner so the battery shouldnt be bad but not 100percent sure.
I have no idea what else i need to check or what to do with it. Apparently i have brakes but no abs now .

Hi Askel
being an '02 bike you are probably pre servo (like mine) so if you get flashing lights after pulling away, rather than the big clonk sound of the ABS initialising then check the gaps between the sensors and the pickups. There should be a feeler gauge in the toolkit if you have one.

Otherwise pop and see Neil AKA Steptoe in Sarf Lundun and he'll sort it out for you. He advertises at the top of the page www.gsshop.biz

Abs

I had same problem, much panic.. Adventure Bike Warehouse, top chaps, diagnosed battery on way out! :thumb:thumby: to ABW, happy me, hope this helps. Prb

Try switching engine off and restarting it after riding for 10 minutes and see if ABS lights now go out - this is what mine was doing when the battery was on its way out.

I did the same after riding a while but didint work at all. If it is the battery , maybe i should top it up?

Is the ABS permanently off at the moment then? Mine occasionally does this, it did it a couple of weeks ago and I think it can sometime fault and need resetting, maybe because it has detected a wheel speed differential or something at some point. It's a 1 minute , very easy job with a length of wire to reset it - there are instructions on the web - just connect a jump cable across the diagnostic plug under the seat and hold the ABS switch for a minute. I bet it resets and is fine.

According to the riders manuel , abs is off but i have normal brakes. I will do a search for resetting , hope it works.

Hi my 02 did this all last year and I ran the bike for ten minutes of the journey then stopped and restarted and the lights where ok but what a pain, now I have got new battery and not a light for the last 600 miles

Yer man Steptoe has a diagnostic tool that he can plug in and tell you exactly what the fault is. It may just need to be properly reset. Mine was terminal and Neil replaced it with a s/h unit and gave me a "loaner" for the couple of hours it took to do it. Can't recommend him highly enough.

Problem soved. It's been reset and speacial thanks to steptoe. Thanks all.
