Looks like it is a variable resistor to fool the air temperature sensor in the airbox to thinking it is colder, hence enrichening the mixture.
This will work for a very short time as the ecu will adapt it out, as long as the lambda sensors are still working.
Bin it and use the stock air temperature sensor.

Oh - didn't have my specs on yesterday - didn't notice those were small screws, not connectors :D
Ye, agree with mistacat.

The bike is 09 I have no idea how long this thing has been there or if it does anything could I open a can of worms messing with it

Above the throttle cable junction box on the front of the airbox these new wires are joined to a plug in your photo.
Remove the wires from the original BMW plug and chances are the sensor is still there on the top of the airbox.
If it is plug the connector into the temperature sensor.

Update on the ABS fault I removed the side panels again and the air intake pipe and gave the motor a couple of firm taps on the end of the motor been out on the bike today and touch wood it seems to have sorted the issue (for now 🤣)

make sure you wake the ABS up on a regular basis...take the bike somewhere safe so you can lock up one of the wheels to enable the ABS to cut in...they rarely get to work during normal road work, thats why some of the unit get a bit sticky. IMO

Would using a GS911 or app to activate the ABS modulator bleed do the same thing?
I beleive you would do this unvented, so shouldn't be any harm in just setting off the pump?
If so, then this might be something worth doing every so often to 'exercise' the pump motor.
Any thoughts appreciated, thanks

Thanks worth a try

I have a Motoscan app and yes you can activate the ABS pump, which will run it briefly...does the same thing really...a bit of exercise :ROFLMAO:

its the use of the ABS that causes the very thing that makes it fail - its dirt and debris from the motor brushes gumming up in the overly tight guides the BMW units are specified with

the ford motors differ slightly I've read...could be a better option

if you could reach it - as you can on a K1300 I suspect the right fix would be a small drain hole and a can of brake cleaner - wash the crap out and it will probably last the 120k miles it should

Hitting the brush motor housing is nothing to do with exercising the abs motor.
Hitting the housing frees the brushes which get stuck in their holders
